Jibbs

00:00:52.460 - 00:00:57.820

And Good Tuesday morning, everybody. This is Azeroth Morning Radio.

NPC Greeting (Kalecgos)

00:00:58.620 - 00:01:01.620

Something about you seems familiar.

Jibbs

00:01:01.620 - 00:01:16.620

It's Warcraft.

For the rest of us here, the nine to fivers, those of us, the weekend warriors, those of us who, parents, whatever it is, but you still love World of Warcraft. You only have a few minutes to play. We are your hosts. My name is Jibs, and I'm joined by Cash.

Kash

00:01:17.020 - 00:01:23.980

Hey, what's going on? I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting some kind of a backhanded insult.

Jibbs

00:01:24.060 - 00:01:30.460

I got one loaded. It's locked and loaded. Okay. 2004's best ice sculptor in Northrend. His name is Keshe.

Kash

00:01:30.620 - 00:01:33.340

I like that. We're going to Northrend, friends.

Jibbs

00:01:33.340 - 00:01:34.620

Going to Northrend.

Kash

00:01:35.020 - 00:02:03.410

It's cold up there, and I happen to hate ice baths. Has anybody out there ever tried an ice bath? It's supposed to be really good for your health.

What I found is that it's insanely detrimental to your health because when you get into an ice bath, it turns out the water's cold.

Jibbs

00:02:03.410 - 00:02:04.450

Turns out it sucks.

Kash

00:02:05.410 - 00:03:25.370

It does. Okay, side story, funny side story. We have ice. We have ice baths at work, at my job, okay? And they're for people to use.

And I have stared at that thing for the better part of two years and watched, you know, watched a lot of our employees cycle through those things. And, like, it's a lot of them, like, that's their morning thing. They just throw on their boardies and then they hop in the ice bath and shower up.

They're ready for the day. And I stare at it and I go, I don't like cold water. I don't like. So I'm a Southern California guy. I grew up surfing.

I grew up, would wear a full wetsuit until the wa. Though. Until the water really warmed up. Like, I'm Talking in the 70s in the spring and summertime, okay? Do not like cold water.

It's a mental toughness thing for me, which is why I decided one day, out of the blue, I stared at that freaking ice bath thing and I went, I'm gonna try it. Threw all my boardies, went downstairs, opened up the lid, jumped in the ice bath. And I've regretted it every day since. It was brutal.

Like, you want to talk about talking yourself into staying in something that is causing you physical pain.

Goblins

00:03:25.690 - 00:03:28.090

Yeah, sounds like my first four marriages.

Kash

00:03:29.530 - 00:04:01.090

I made it for three minutes, which was cool. And then when I got out, like every inch of my skin was beet red and like I lost dexterity and I'm just like, okay, I need a hot shower.

Went upstairs, took a hot shower. But yeah, anyway, that's how I'm going to feel in Northrend.

Luckily I have bear form on my druid, so if I'm swimming through water and actually have bare form and seal form, they'll both be okay in the cold water. But anyway, for the Northrend reference, I went to the cold water. That's where I land.

Jibbs

00:04:01.250 - 00:04:50.190

You know, I have purposely been waiting to do like a Lore master run in a very long time. Mainly because I want to see if, you know, heroic world tier comes to, you know, retail and. But I was up in Not Borales. I'm always up in Morales.

I love that. But I was over in Northrend the other day at the Borean Tundra and I'm just looking around and I'm just like.

Because I was getting the tricky treats, you know, doing the candy buckets and I'm looking around and. And I'm just flying and you happen to be in channel all the time. And I just couldn't get over. I'm like, I can't wait. Can't wait to.

To sink my teeth in this story. And I hope that that, you know, heroic tear does become a thing.

So, you know, maybe somehow other people who've already done the quest can go do them again or something. I don't know. But yeah, it was. Gosh, I love that area up there. It's beautiful. Man, that was such a good expansion.

Kash

00:04:50.270 - 00:04:53.950

From what I understand, they are doing. They're doing a revamp of that, aren't they?

Jibbs

00:04:54.190 - 00:05:01.680

Yeah. So that's gonna be the last Titan. So midnight, we're going back to Quel' th Loss and then. And then the last Titan, we're going to Northrend. Yeah.

Kash

00:05:01.680 - 00:05:11.880

Okay. So they're going to do the same type of world revamp that they're doing with Quel' Thalas in Northrend, which is going to be so sick.

Jibbs

00:05:12.120 - 00:05:20.280

Oh yeah, yeah. And honestly, that would be. That'd be perfect if they did Rat's Lich King remix at that time too. Remember you talked about last episode?

Kash

00:05:20.440 - 00:05:44.710

Yeah, I remember talking about that. And that actually it brings things in line because, you know, sometimes Blizzard does some cryptic stuff. Right.

And one of their cryptic Things which is. Cat's out of the bag on it. We're going to talk about a little bit later. But consoles. But we're going to talk about that later.

But I like the fact that everything could line up for getting a Wrath of the Lich King remix.

Jibbs

00:05:44.950 - 00:05:45.470

Oh yeah.

Kash

00:05:45.470 - 00:05:48.230

Which. Oh man. Yeah.

Jibbs

00:05:48.310 - 00:05:48.790

Oh yeah.

Kash

00:05:48.790 - 00:05:49.390

It's gonna be good.

Jibbs

00:05:49.390 - 00:06:12.090

Speaking of the. Was it the Sargeri Commander sets? I think that's the term for it. The Transmog sets, you know, that you're going for with the heroic.

The heroic tier for the world quests where you get the purple one. And you know how we talked about we got our 30 key one last week. Imagine what they would do for wrath just covered in ice and snow.

It would just be amazing.

Kash

00:06:12.570 - 00:06:20.250

It would be sick. And you know what you're good at, buddy? You're good at segues. That segues right into what I've done in Warcraft this week.

Jibbs

00:06:20.250 - 00:06:21.050

We'll go on.

Kash

00:06:21.790 - 00:06:23.950

I mean, there's nothing like having a ball on a tee.

Jibbs

00:06:23.950 - 00:06:25.150

I know. Teeing up.

Kash

00:06:26.110 - 00:06:28.910

Swing away, dog. So here I go.

Jibbs

00:06:29.310 - 00:06:29.950

I had.

Kash

00:06:30.350 - 00:07:28.380

I had a continuation of what was going on in real life last week. So I just. A bunch of real life changes and stuff going on for me. Don't worry, show's not going anywhere. If I have any focus in this life.

This show has been so much fun for five episodes, you know, embarking on six, that that's, that is not going anywhere. Don't worry. Just, you know, some big, big type life changes coming up which I'm sure I'll get into in future episodes.

So my playtime was a bit less this week, but still able to dive into remix and dive into finishing up my candy buckets stuff for Hollow's end. I did in fact get my mount this week, which is great.

I finally got it despite being teased and harassed that all my friends have already gotten their mount like on their first damn run.

Jibbs

00:07:28.860 - 00:07:29.900

Listen to this guy.

Kash

00:07:30.140 - 00:07:41.660

And I'm running through it on all. On all of my alts, which I don't have that well. I guess I have a ton. But I don't tuss them. I don't touch them. I don't touch them. I said tuss.

Jibbs

00:07:42.230 - 00:07:42.550

Hmm.

Kash

00:07:42.710 - 00:07:49.510

But I meant. I meant touch and dust get dust at the same time. They're in mothballs, basically, all these two.

Goblins

00:07:49.670 - 00:07:51.910

Yeah, I don't tuss them either.

Kash

00:07:52.230 - 00:08:08.950

I was plopping down the single button rotation assistant on a bunch of them and just like blasting through the dungeon. Well, it turns out you really only have the best Chance. You only have a chance of getting the mount on your first run of the day.

Jibbs

00:08:09.220 - 00:08:09.500

Mm.

Kash

00:08:09.500 - 00:10:27.520

So I wasted a bunch of time, but I got a lot of frickin candy treats through doing it anyway. Got it. Finally got the mount. I was stoked on that. And then I would dive into Remix.

But the issue that I've been having with the limited time is that right now I'm working on that particular set that you were talking about, that purple set in remix that you get for completing 100 Heroic Mode World quests. But the lag man has just been so bad.

I don't know if it's server specific, but as an example, I would kill a bunch of things and then when, when I'm looting said things, you know how the window comes up and you have a list of things that, that you're looting and normally it's like all in your inventory. Well, this one was like, boop boop boop. And I'm just going, what the hell is happening?

Was the same thing when I was breaking down gear that I didn't need. It just was taking so long.

And like I would go to hop into flight mode and, or into my flight form and it would, it put me up in the air, but my character would be swimming like, literally like looking like my character is in his, in his elf form but he's swimming through the air. And then like three seconds later I would pop into my owl and it was just, the lag was just so bad. So anyway, it became a bit unplayable for me.

So I had a little frustration this week with that and it's, it's sick. Like some type. Some parts of the day it's doing that where it's really, really laggy and then other parts of the day it's fine, normal.

So I, I don't know, I mean that was, I'm just, I'm going through Suramar and it's really hard to do quests and stuff like that when you're, when you're dealing with that kind of stuff. So that was a little bit frustrating for me this week, but otherwise I still got a decent amount of, of timing.

You know, Warcraft Azeroth is my, it's my escape. So I don't want to worry about the stresses of the world. I dive in. So I make time for it every single day. And my, my wife and my family are amazing.

They're like, no, go play, Go, go have fun. Get your mind right.

Jibbs

00:10:27.520 - 00:10:28.800

Go get your ice bath first.

Kash

00:10:28.960 - 00:10:35.600

And then, yeah, you're Talking about getting your mind right. Go freaking freeze yourself like a baby fur seal.

Jibbs

00:10:36.480 - 00:11:22.890

Voluntary. Put yourself on ice. Yeah, no kidding. Warcraft's been interesting this week. The Shadow Priests did not stick, unfortunately.

I'll make this quick, but I don't know what happened after level 35 ish. But it's like the class started really, really well and I was having a great time. And then as it went on it just became less and less what it was.

It felt like the class was like an in between point. Like it could be this or it could be this. And it just felt very uncomfortable as a rotation. And I'm like, what is going on?

I was talking to our good friend starkit. You, you mentioned before and I'm like, why does this feel so uncomfortable? This rotation is just not fun. He goes, oh yeah, that's Shadow Priest.

What do you mean it's Shadow Priest? This isn't Shadow Priest. This isn't anything I remember about Shadow Priest.

Kash

00:11:22.890 - 00:11:23.970

Why didn't you tell me?

Jibbs

00:11:23.970 - 00:12:00.590

Why didn't you tell me this would feel like this Poop mouth, broad poop mouth poop coming out of your mouth. So anyway, I, you know, I was just like this is. This is not what I. This was not. This isn't the Shadow Priest I remember. And so I'm like, this is.

Unfortunately just felt very uncomfortable and like I just really wasn't enjoying it nearly as much as I. As I loved. And so I went and tried something else. After a while I landed on Shaman. Been having a good time with him. So that's definitely my caster.

Alt right now is a Resto Shaman Kul Tiran basically AKA a Tide Sage. So I'm having a wonderful time.

Kash

00:12:01.070 - 00:13:21.290

Yeah. If you were to take anything for jibs and put it into a nice tight little gift package and.

And wrap it with a beautiful bow, it would be anything that has anything to do with, with Kul Tirans or Boralus and specifically Tidesages. So I don't know folks, we'll see if this one sticks.

But again, I've been surprised before and I have to tell the story because I did mention it on last week's show and I do enjoy listening to our previous show before we record this week's show because it gets, it really gets my juices flowing. Every once in a while we'll, you know, I'll, I'll. We'll run into something. It's like, ooh, we should.

We should probably make a revision on that on this week's show because we were wrong. There or something. But it gets my juices flowing. So I like to listen to last week's show before we record this week's show.

And I found that Jibs was super pumped about his Shadow Priest. I was loving it this week's show. And then I was like, oh, this is definitely going to be a topic of conversation on this week's show.

Because, you know, I made the point that he switches manes, like he switches underwear.

Jibbs

00:13:21.290 - 00:13:37.810

I feel like I'm a circus act and everyone, it's. I'm the focus of whatever I'm playing. Like, it becomes a thing no matter what. I could switch to a mage and be like, what are you playing?

It wouldn't even be you. It'd be someone from. Our close friends are like, what are you playing a mage for? Like, it's a thing. I'm like, let me just play that game.

Kash

00:13:38.770 - 00:13:40.410

You think they sense the trend as well?

Jibbs

00:13:40.410 - 00:13:42.370

Yeah. Yeah. I wonder where they get the fuel from.

Kash

00:13:43.090 - 00:13:48.850

Well, they're just not on the show with a platform to be able to blast it out to all the people. It's true.

Jibbs

00:13:49.330 - 00:14:11.500

That's exactly right. Well, folks, again, thank you so much for pushing play, hanging out with us here today at Azeroth Morning Radio. This week on the show lvy calls it.

It's a big show, folks. It's a big show. LVUI calls it quits. Warcraft is. Look, it looks like it is coming to console. Legion Remix player does some crazy stuff.

All that and more right after the commercial break. We'll be right back.

Commercial

00:14:12.620 - 00:14:18.220

Hey, everyone, Cash and Jibbs here and we wanted you to be part of Azeroth Morning Radio. We're putting together something special to showcase our amazing community right here on the show itself. All you need to do is record a short voice clip of yourself saying this line and make it your own. Hi, I'm your character name. And when I'm not in something funny, personal or totally chaotic, I'm listening to Azeroth Morning Radio. Here's a few examples. Hi, I'm Leaf Spinner. And when I'm not falling off Zeppelins, I'm listening to Azeroth Morning Radio. Hi, I'm Leaf Spinner.

When I'm not raiding at 3am, I'm listening to Azeroth Morning Radio. Keep it short, have fun with it and don't worry about perfection. We want your real personality and in game charm to shine through. Quick tip, you don't need fancy gear.

Just use the voice recorder app on your phone, hit record and send us the file. Pretty Easy. Once you've got your clip, email it to us@azerothmorningradiomail.com we'll pick our favorites to feature in future episodes. So you might just hear your own voice on the show. Listener Spotlight

00:15:27.350 - 00:15:34.630

Hi, I'm Morana. When I'm not the official cat herder in chief for pulling aggro irl, I'm listening to Azeroth Morning Radio.

Jibbs

00:15:39.350 - 00:15:51.490

All right, everybody, welcome back.

It's Azeroth Morning Radio. Appreciate you all so much for continuing to listen and tune in the episode every week.

But let's go ahead and get things started with the Heroes Call.

Kash

00:15:53.650 - 00:16:31.129

When I read this story, blew my mind, right?

And made me a little sick to my stomach, but especially because, you know, with I'm taking my time in Remix, I'm at the point now where, like, I'm taking my time. I had my. I had my. The portion of the leveling experience where. Where I was blasting through some stuff and it felt wrong, it felt dirt. I felt dirty.

Not reading Quest text. I'm like, somebody took time to write this story. I should probably give them the time that's required to read the story and enjoy it.

Jibbs

00:16:31.129 - 00:16:36.050

Remember what you always used to say? Every time you speed through story, a developer loses their wings.

Kash

00:16:36.450 - 00:17:34.559

Yes, and that is exactly true. Every time you ring the bell, an angel gets their wings. Well, it's the same type of thing, folks.

Every time you spacebar through story, a developer loses their wings. Remember that. So anyway, player Cam Lee in Legion Remix. Where's that camel? That's Camel spelled very, very different.

Player Camel made a new character in Remix, skip the artifact quest, set it to hero difficulty, and farmed Tormented Sky Sunders in Stormheim with a level 80 paladin.

Okay, in 22 minutes and 42 seconds, they leveled from level 10 to 80, making it probably the fastest Legion Remix run so far and making me a little of a klempt.

Jibbs

00:17:35.130 - 00:17:35.730

That's insane.

Kash

00:17:35.730 - 00:17:39.210

My gosh, dude, that's so fast.

Jibbs

00:17:39.770 - 00:17:58.010

22 minutes. But can you imagine what that. What is that on average? Let's get the calculator out. Let's do this live. We're doing it live, folks.

22 divided by 80 levels, right? Level 80. That what they said? Yeah, that's every 27 seconds they're leveling. That's insane.

Kash

00:17:58.170 - 00:18:00.650

I would imagine they would have had to do this with somebody else.

Jibbs

00:18:00.840 - 00:18:07.080

Oh, they definitely did. They had. They had someone helping them farm I think it was a. Yeah, it says a level 80 paladin was helping them.

Kash

00:18:07.080 - 00:18:15.560

Farm with a level 80 paladin. Okay, that makes sense. So the level 80 pallet paladin is the one that's doing all the damage, basically.

Jibbs

00:18:15.560 - 00:18:17.240

Yeah. You're just sitting there reaping the rewards.

Kash

00:18:17.560 - 00:18:58.300

Okay, now that this whole. This whole shtick makes sense to me now. So you're reaping the rewards of it. But anyway, 22 minutes.

And this goes right along with what Blizzard wanted for Remix. They wanted experimentation, they wanted players to break the game. And that is exactly what happened here. And I just think it.

This is Heroes Call Board. All day long, new and amazing things that characters are doing, players are doing. This certainly meets Heroes Call Board criteria because I just.

That doesn't register with me in 22 minutes and 42 seconds how somebody could go from 10 to 80. But that's remix. It's wild, it's wacky, it's fun.

Jibbs

00:18:58.460 - 00:19:40.320

Yeah, yeah, it really is. It's not normal. Like, so, you know, like. Like we talked last week, you know, we mentioned 30 plus 30, mythics and other.

The sort of things, but it's with a heavy asterisk because it's not like your normal thing, you know, so it's like you just get in and. And just go and it's. It's weird. It's like.

It reminds me back in the day whenever I would play PlayStation and I had a game shark and I had it plugged into the back of the PlayStation where. Which you could enable cheats, you know, and so, yeah, that kind of dates me at this point. So anyway, I'm sitting there doing my thing and I'm.

That's what I feel like. I feel like I have in Remix, it's like you've got all the cheat codes on. Everything's dialed up to 11, you know, then just go. And so it's fun.

Kash

00:19:40.560 - 00:19:54.130

It. It can be fun. I would imagine that this would. This was like, really fun for them just to see what. What they could do.

They obviously had a timer on it, which is super cool. Completely opposite from the way I do business when I have a new character.

Jibbs

00:19:54.130 - 00:19:55.050

Oh, my gosh, me too.

Kash

00:19:55.370 - 00:21:19.670

And I. I want to go into. Into that a little bit because I still think that the way.

Especially when you and I level a character, a fresh character together, and it doesn't necessarily mean that we're all. We're running dungeons and stuff together, but the way Jibs and I like to do it is we. We don't run with heirloom gear.

And if you're unfamiliar with heirloom gear, it is gear that it spans your whole warband. And it is gear that basically scales with you as you level, you know, depending on like how you've kind of specced it out.

And if you know you have the higher tiers of heirloom level that you can accumulate over the years through, you know, events and buying it and stuff, then you can get gear that will last you from level one to level 80. So you don't ever have.

You can just, you can vendor all the gear you get from quests and, and all the things you're doing in the game just vendor at all because it's not going to be better than your heirloom gear. So it's basically leveling gear. But we do it without heirloom gear. We don't buy bags, we don't transfer gold from other characters.

Like we try to make the leveling experience in retail as vanilla as possible. And we tried 100 zones and it works until about level 40 ish. Is it 40?

Jibbs

00:21:20.150 - 00:21:21.230

Yeah, just about.

Kash

00:21:21.230 - 00:21:31.190

Isn't it about 40? Because at some point you, you don't get a. You get like barely any XP at all for doing quests and zones.

Jibbs

00:21:31.270 - 00:22:01.290

So is that 40 or is that 60 and classic? I think it's 40. Unless you've got like, if you're. If you go talk to Chromie and she puts you in XYZ timeline, I'm not sure which one I want to say.

It's dragonflight. Everything in the old world, the classic world is up to 60. I think outside of that it stops around 40ish.

And then from there you can go and do like Cult, you can go do Kiras if you want it and that's up to 60 and then dragonflights to 70.

Kash

00:22:01.370 - 00:24:12.410

It's pretty much always where we land, pretty much because we, we really do and Jibs more than I. But we really love like that is just such a fun area to go to go through. So, so good. But that's how we do it.

We do it as vanilla as possible without any help. Like and we're earning the gold that we need for bags.

And so we're, you know, we're struggling with inventory because we know how to play like retail players.

But when you have a brand new character and you're not taking advantage of a lot of quality of life things or transferring gold from another character to your brand new character, it slows everything down and allows us to take in the world and Smell the roses and bring your professions all the way up.

Like, to this day, some of the most relaxing and enjoyable moments in this game for me are when I am leveling a new character in either because I play alliance in either Elwyn or in Darnassus because, let's face it, a hundred percent of the time, my character is Night Elf a hundred percent of the time. So a lot of times I will make the run from Darnassus to Elwyn and I'll level there.

Or a lot of the times I will stay in my homeland and go through everything in Darnassus and I will pick every flower. I will kill all the things for skinning to get those. To get those gathering professions all the way up. Use it to fund the things that I want to do.

But it really does slow down the game a lot. So a bit different from Camel, how he, you know, he took a super powerful buddy with him and just grinded this thing out. But that is typically how.

How Jibs and I will do new characters. And for us, it helps us seat ourselves with that character, get familiar with the class, get familiar with where our character lives in the world.

And I understand that that is super nerdy. It's on the super nerdy side. But this is an rpg, so I like to get into the role playing aspects and feel like my character has a place in the world.

He's a fledgling right now. He's just a baby.

Jibbs

00:24:12.410 - 00:24:13.730

Just a wee little lady.

Kash

00:24:13.730 - 00:24:20.040

He's just a wee little. And we got to get him up to speed. So, yeah, little different from Camel, but it's how we do business.

Jibbs

00:24:20.200 - 00:25:02.430

Yeah, there's a lot to unpack there, man. We have so many things we need to talk about. I will say this real quick. I'm doing that with my shaman to an extent.

Like before I even say that, I will add to what you said. You really want to slow things down. Don't allow yourself to fly. Just have a mount that just runs. Don't fly, just run. And that's fun too.

With my shaman, what I've been doing is just trying to take everything in as much as I possibly can with him. And so, like, in my head, I kind of put him in the world. So I'm going to merchants around Borales.

I'm buying bags from Borales, aside from the reagent bag, because I couldn't find one there. So I had to, you know, go to the markets and. But anyway, yeah, I mean, it's a blast when you can really slow things down and take in your character.

GNN Bumper

00:25:04.590 - 00:25:08.350

Breaking news. Brought to all of yous from the Goblin News Network

Jibbs

00:25:08.510 - 00:26:28.370

By the Goblin News Network Network. World of Warcraft in all games coming to next gen Xbox Console per Windows Central.

This coming to us from wowhead.com now real quick everyone who's tuning in, we are recording early this week so something major outside of this comes out. No, it's going to be a week later, but this was pretty big.

So Windows Central is reporting that next gen Xbox consoles will run full windows, allowing PC games to operate directly on the console. This includes Battle.net meaning World of Warcraft will technically be playable on Xbox.

Users could run WoW alongside other PC only titles, giving console players access to the game without needing a dedicated PC. The article clarifies this is not a native console port. It works because the Xbox can run the Windows version of wow.

Exiting to full Windows will also allow access to add ons, mods and other PC only tools, though changes in midnight may affect some functionality. So this opens the door for console players to experience wow, potentially bringing the MMO to a new audience.

While speculation has followed Blizzard's acquisition by Microsoft Windows Central notes, the focus is on running all PC games, not a direct console launch. Your thoughts?

Kash

00:26:29.890 - 00:27:18.850

I love how they I love how they say While speculation has followed Blizzard's acquisition by Microsoft Windows Central notes, the focus is on running all PC games, not just World of Warcraft. And I call bs. World of Warcraft is the Titan. Why would they not make this the focus?

And the driver behind the other ones are like, here's the board meeting. Okay, okay, I get that this game will work.

This game will work and this game will work and that game will probably work, but will World of Warcraft work? Yes. Okay, goal post. Thank you very much. The Titan will work. So let's. We'll worry about all the other stuff later.

I bet you the support for World of Warcraft is going to be massive for this. Why? Because.

Jibbs

00:27:19.090 - 00:27:19.570

Hi.

Kash

00:27:19.890 - 00:28:26.770

That's what that sounded like. I truly believe that World of Warcraft being such a juggernaut in the space they wanted to branch out.

And let's face it, as another one of these bullet points, the article clarifies that this is not a native console port. It works because the Xbox can run the Windows version of wow. WOW is a very accessible game. Right?

We're finally at the point to where consoles can very well, very easily run World of Warcraft. So why would they not want to do this? My personal opinion on this, I think it deserves the sandwich method jibs. I really do.

And we know the sandwich Method. Well, because we use it with each other.

We start with a positive and then we vomit all the negative stuff that we think is probably going to happen or how we feel about a certain topic, and then we end with a positive.

Jibbs

00:28:27.730 - 00:28:30.210

It's true, it's true.

Kash

00:28:30.850 - 00:28:46.610

There's a lot to this and a lot to unpack on this. But why do we think that this could be a good thing for Warcraft? I'll start with one example, then I'll give it to you. One example. Okay.

Jibbs

00:28:46.690 - 00:28:47.250

Yep.

Kash

00:28:47.330 - 00:29:49.710

Probably the biggest. The elephant in the room. Okay. Opening this up to the console platform is going to introduce a ton more people to this game.

There's a lot of people out there that, that may have a PC and may have a console as well, but I truly believe there's even more people out there that choose one or the other. They're expensive, especially PCs. PCs are super expensive.

So I would say a majority of people out there especially, you know, as a, as a generational fact, a lot of gamers are younger gamers, even though we have a lot of older gamers nowadays. But we, there's a lot of gamers. Probably the largest part of the audience are younger gamers.

And I would venture to guess that most of them are console players. So this is going to introduce World of Warcraft as an MMO to a ton more people.

And that's positive for Blizzard and it's a positive for our player population.

Jibbs

00:29:50.270 - 00:30:51.050

I agree wholeheartedly. It absolutely will open up to new people. Think what it did for eso. And they did everything on a mega server. You know, like that was insane.

So I, while you were talking, I did a quick search and of course I used AI, so take this with an asterisk. Okay. I said, so what is the percentage of player base Blizzard would open up World of Warcraft to if they brought Warcraft to console?

Here's what ChatGPT says.

If Blizzard Entertainment ported it to consoles, assuming a modest conservative adoption from console only players, existing PC players switching optimistic case maybe to 20 30% of growth of the current player base, aka an extra roughly 2 to 3 million players. More cautious case, somewhere in the neighborhood of greater or less than 800,000 to 1.5 million additional players.

So in other words, bringing WOW to console could realistically open it up to an additional 10 to 30% of its current active user base. Yeah, that's a lot.

Kash

00:30:51.050 - 00:30:59.610

That's a ton. Now let me ask you this question. What does, what is it called? Windows Central.

Jibbs

00:30:59.850 - 00:31:00.330

Yeah.

Kash

00:31:01.220 - 00:31:05.300

Okay, so this is gonna run on Xbox's service. Right.

Jibbs

00:31:05.860 - 00:31:06.820

I imagine.

Kash

00:31:07.940 - 00:31:09.460

Yeah. I'm looking at her notes here.

Jibbs

00:31:09.540 - 00:31:16.260

I believe it would run off Windows. So it would run off the. I imagine that would look like it runs off the Windows servers maybe. I don't know.

Kash

00:31:16.260 - 00:31:17.940

So they would still have to have battle that account.

Jibbs

00:31:18.020 - 00:31:18.980

Yeah, I believe so.

Kash

00:31:19.220 - 00:31:23.180

So the price would. The price would be the same. It's not like a Game Pass thing.

Jibbs

00:31:23.180 - 00:31:24.420

Where I would hope.

Kash

00:31:24.500 - 00:31:36.200

Have. Okay. Because that would be. I'm sure that the smart people over there have already figured that part out.

Could you imagine if it was like, oh, yeah, Game Pass is only $10 a month, but I'm over here on PC.

Jibbs

00:31:37.000 - 00:31:43.160

Well, I tell you, 15 bucks a month. We just canceled our Game Pass because they brought up to $30 a month now for the whole. The whole shebang.

Kash

00:31:43.400 - 00:31:43.880

Ooh.

Jibbs

00:31:43.880 - 00:31:59.910

So. Yeah, I know. So like that. Could they include a subscription of. Wow. Imagine that. Marketing move. I know this is kind of like way off the rails here.

Launches on World of Warcraft on Game Pass subscription include. Your subscriptions include. With Game Pass, you know, how many people would play. It'd be insane.

Kash

00:32:00.230 - 00:32:23.740

It would be nuts. So. So I think that's. That's the number one plus to this. Another one is gonna be that, you know, quality of life for.

For everybody's gonna go up because you're gonna get to play the game on a controller natively on a controller without any. Without any issue. Well, hopefully without any issues. I still don't know how I would play this on. On a controller with limited buttons.

Jibbs

00:32:23.900 - 00:32:25.940

Single button rotation is how you do it.

Kash

00:32:25.940 - 00:32:49.270

Single button rotation, which, you know what? Hey, man. If that makes the game accessible to people sitting in their Barclayounger on a big screen TV playing World of Warcraft, okay, man.

I just got all kinds of ideas just sparked in my mind. I could literally play World of Warcraft on an Xbox sitting in my Barca lounger and just. Even if you're just like, right. Running around.

Jibbs

00:32:49.590 - 00:32:50.150

Yeah.

Kash

00:32:50.310 - 00:32:55.270

And just flying and, you know, picking up nodes.

Jibbs

00:32:55.350 - 00:32:55.910

Yep.

Kash

00:32:57.110 - 00:33:01.190

Oh, man, I've never even thought of that because I'm such a PC freaking snob.

Jibbs

00:33:01.510 - 00:34:18.420

If you think about it. You know, ESO worked for console because of the limited ability options.

So in eso, for those of you who have never played Elder Scrolls Online, it allows. I think it's like four abilities plus your ultimate or whatever that is that's called. I'm forgetting at the moment.

And then you have a back bar of a different weapon with different ability, different four abilities, and then your ultimate there as well. It Worked on console because it was simplified on an ability standpoint. And so they're already kind of on that track in two fronts.

Number one, Midnight's really focusing down a lot of the rotation and that's a whole other conversation because we're seeing some things, some crazy things that people are saying. You know, like they're. The classes are oversimplified or this feels really good. So it's kind of all over the place.

But also you have the single button rotation. So it's really, it's really kind of attacking that issue of too many skills, skill bloat for a console release with those two things.

And so if you can get those things down and the servers run great. We saw it with eso. If you're able to handle your servers okay, abilities are okay, you're able to chat, figure that out.

People are off to the races and they'll go.

Kash

00:34:18.660 - 00:35:29.600

They will. And it brings up other questions though.

It brings up a lot of speculation from people and it is definitely out there right now that people are thinking, you know, with like this, the single button assistant stuff. It. I'm still a fan, definitely a fan of it. I, as I said, I just start.

I started using it on some of my alts to run, you know, dungeons for, for the hollows and drop. And I can see how it makes everything super accessible for people. Okay. I can also see that.

I don't want to say dumbing down the classes, I want to say streamlining, I want to say making our classes more efficient is how it's being presented to us with these changes that are coming in to Midnight. But it. You cannot overlook the fact that this is coming at the same exact time as the console releases. So you.

There's folks out there that are speculating all these quality of life things that are coming and dumbing down the rotations and all this stuff and making skills easier and more streamlined. It's because of porting it to consoles, right?

Jibbs

00:35:29.680 - 00:35:30.160

Yeah.

Kash

00:35:30.400 - 00:36:12.080

You can't overshadow that fact that it's all happening at the same time.

So whether it was a two birds with one stone thing, we're making the game more accessible for people and we're bringing its consoles at the same time. Whether or not you feel that that was like a completely planned thing and maybe it's just not getting admitted or not it's happening.

So you know, they're bringing a cross platform type of ecosystem, which is one thing that I'll say that they will have up on games like Elder Scrolls Online because you still can't play with your friends. If you're playing on Xbox and you're and all your other friends are playing on PC, they haven't changed that, have they?

Jibbs

00:36:12.080 - 00:36:25.370

They haven't. And this hasn't even been confirmed that it would be crossplay if it did come to console.

I'm assuming it would be because you're running again off of the Windows. It's weird because like you're running off the Windows servers. It sounds like you're going through the client.

Kash

00:36:25.530 - 00:36:30.610

Yeah. So it sounds like if you're going through the client then it would be, wouldn't matter what you're playing on.

Jibbs

00:36:30.610 - 00:36:30.890

Right.

Kash

00:36:30.890 - 00:37:26.360

You're going to be able to play with your friends.

If you're, you know, sitting on your couch playing on your Xbox, you can play with your PC friends, which is huge because that would be an instant population boost for sure. They wouldn't have their own servers and stuff like that.

So you know, another positive, I think it brings more of a casual and social appeal to the game which, you know, you could say that the streamlining of skills and the saying bye bye to a lot of add ons and stuff could be all part of that. Encouraging Blizzard to expand and the game, making it more accessible, fun, quicker content loops for people if they have less time.

You know, things like the events delves. For sure. You know, there's things out there that Blizzard has put into the game that make the game more accessible for quick content.

Jibbs

00:37:26.600 - 00:37:27.080

Yeah.

Kash

00:37:27.320 - 00:37:39.280

And a lot of times, you know, people playing on consoles like they only have time for that. They're not sitting down for six or eight hour sessions playing at least if they are, their wives are yelling at them in the background.

Jibbs

00:37:39.280 - 00:37:39.680

Right.

Kash

00:37:40.320 - 00:37:53.920

So revitalizing old content.

I think that's another good one too because you're going to have a bunch of people who have always played console and they have never had the opportunity to play World of Warcraft and now they are going to be going through all of those vanilla zones.

Jibbs

00:37:54.000 - 00:37:55.440

Yeah, yeah.

Kash

00:37:55.600 - 00:38:04.490

So I personally think all those things are very, very good. Thanks. Do you have any more positives before we dive into a few negatives?

Jibbs

00:38:05.290 - 00:40:23.010

Let's go, let's dive in the negatives because I've, I've kind of sitting on one there. So for me I think, I think this is a great thing. There's a couple negatives to me, possible negatives. Number one, preparation.

If, and this is coming from, if this was happening today. Okay. It's not a fair assessment. All right. This is not fair at all because this is, you know, we're talking years in the future at this point.

However, if it ported today, I do not feel Warcraft is at for everything that it is and the greatness that it is and the things that we enjoy and we love and we're passionate about. One thing that World of Warcraft could really improve upon is the new player experience. Someone who's brand new and you're arriving at this world.

For instance, yes, we have follower dungeons which are slower paced. Right. But that's not necessarily your norm.

If you queue into a dungeon when you're first starting number one, it's difficult kind of figuring out where you're supposed to go. But also the dungeon experience oftentimes is very, very fast, very, very quick. And so that could be very difficult for new.

A new player base coming in, especially when you have consoles. Now, granted, those are much more, oftentimes more twitchy players, especially if you're playing heavy FPS like I was when I was on console.

But that's a concern I do have is I think they need to, because this would just help them exponentially.

I really feel like they need to really invest in the new player experience, the brand new player experience and what that looks like and finding that healthy balance of holding your hand and then slowly letting go and just kind of preserving that again, you know, you're talking random dungeons, so you're signing up for a dungeon. It's so fast. It's so fast and you level so fast. Sometimes it's hard to not only sink your teeth into your character.

That was part of the beauty of classic.

You know, it's hard to sink your teeth in your character, but also wrap your head around all the abilities and things that you need to know because it comes at a very quick pace these days. And so they have to find a way to really nurture that new player experience to really hit it home here, buddy.

Kash

00:40:23.010 - 00:40:38.490

That is a wonderful thought. It truly is. And as you were explaining, was really resonating with me.

And the reason being is because we have a friend that has never played World of Warcraft before and is hopping in now.

Jibbs

00:40:38.490 - 00:40:39.050

Yeah.

Kash

00:40:39.130 - 00:43:57.570

And I think for anybody out there that has a friend that you might want to bring into World of Warcraft, say you've been playing, playing for, you know, five, ten years, maybe longer. And you know, the experience that you get and the feeling that you get with World of World of Warcraft, it's. It is a fun game.

You understand it well, you've been through several expansions. You know this game. But if you Have a brand new friend that you want to experience all these wonderful things that the game has to offer. They cannot.

At least I can't. I can't have them start the game from scratch and feel a hundred percent comfortable that they are going to get it.

I feel more worry and concern that they're gonna get. They're gonna be like, this is too complicated. Like I, I am not enjoying this. I don't even know where to go. I don't know what to do.

And you hear that more often than not with new players coming into the game. Like, yeah, you know, I tried it for a little bit, but I just, you know, I got lost. I didn't know where to go. I didn't. I understand the story.

So I'm with you 100% to feel comfortable that you don't have to handhold a new friend in and show them the ropes and show them all the things. There's so much.

After 20 plus years of development in World of Warcraft, the new player experience really does need streamlining and we'll see what happens with, with Midnight because I know there's a new player experience coming. But how do you truly tell somebody 20 years of lore.

Summarize 20 years of lore that's not just like a long video or something they have to go through. I mean they're trying with stuff with things like Time walk and Time walking and what's Lower Walker Cho? Lower walking Lore walking?

Yeah, Lower Walker Cho, they're trying with him and I think that's great. But you have to be able to direct players to that and really make it poignant that this is what happened before you got here.

Yeah, that experience does need to be better to get somebody through all the beginning levels in whatever zones they choose to go through and then seat them in what the latest expansion is and like, hey, welcome here. Yeah, this is what we have going on. So I 100% agree with you. The new player experience does. It needs a good solid revamp to being.

To bring brand new players on console into it and not feeling like they're completely lost. Okay. So let's try. Let's. Okay. What's another. Another negative. I do think that bringing the game to console could either be.

It might be a little bit of both, but it could either be Blizzard's biggest population boost ever in years possibly. But it could also bring the biggest UI challenge to them for sure because that's fitting a lot of skills into a controller.

Now although the controller native controller support does bring a more. Some more Flexibility to people who want to casually play the game. But you're still going to have your people that are going to want to crush it.

We knew many people in Elder Scrolls Online that played on consoles that were so damn good.

Jibbs

00:43:57.730 - 00:43:58.850

Oh, they were amazing.

Kash

00:43:59.090 - 00:44:20.860

Very, very good at the game. And there's gonna be plenty of those people out there that are gonna have to fit in tons of skills and stuff.

And this is coming at a time when UI and modding are, are being streamlined instead of saying dummy down. So like, what are your thoughts are there?

Jibbs

00:44:21.340 - 00:46:45.290

So I'm going to tell you about Naton and it looks. I'm trying to find the release date just for context. I can't seem to find it. It's called the console port. For context of how popular this add on is.

2.9 million downloads. It's insanely good at bringing World of Warcraft to a controller.

So much so I would not be shocked if they took cues from this and or just brought something like this in as it is. It's phenomenal. The other day I was on my MacBook Pro. I got this for. Right. Or MacBook Mini. I got this for writing. Okay. It's a 13 inch.

It has no fans in it to cool anything off. Like they just don't have them. It's not meant for gaming.

However, I'm able to flawlessly play World of Warcraft and I downloaded that add on and I was playing on an Xbox controller in bed, just chilling, looting, just playing, you know, grinding out some flowers, that sort of thing. It's amazing what you can do with that add on. So from a UI standpoint, that to me, honestly is less of a concern. It's.

Yes, it's vast, but I really do believe that they would be able to find a way to really facilitate this now. Have we not seen the UI changes that we've really been seeing since Dragonfly? And it was kind of the old school AI or UI and that's all it was.

I would, I would be a little bit more concerned because that was. That was dated now compared to what it is. But I really do think that they would be able to bring something together.

I'm honestly more concerned less about ui. I'm more concerned about the audience that you do bring in. The type of audience particularly that you do bring in. We saw it with ESO.

Yes, you're gonna have way more numbers. You will, 100%. You're gonna rope in, dude.

We had at our peak with Lore Seekers, what was it, almost 2000 people in our Discord we had like four different guild chapters. One for PlayStation one for Xbox one for PC, na PCEU. It was insane. So many people right running around. It brought more people in.

However, this is something else to remember. The console audience typically, and this is not a knock at all, it just typically is how it has been and continues.

Seems to continue to be the type of audience can sometimes be much more toxic than the PC crowd.

Kash

00:46:45.370 - 00:47:51.650

Yes. The one thing that I think tamps that down quite a bit is the sub. You have to have a sub to play there is that it does tamp that down.

Um, you get a lot more of that. Communities get a lot more toxic when a game goes free to play.

And thank, thank the gods that World of Warcraft is still functioning very, in a very healthy manner with a sub because it would be much more toxic than it is now if it was a free to play game. And we saw that happen with swtor. Pretty toxic. So. Yeah, so that's a really good point too.

I do think Crossplay would need to be seamless and I'm hoping that this, that the Battle.net platform allows that to happen because I think there could be some fragmentation of the community. Definitely, you know, you'll have, you know, they'll be on their own servers, which is. It's fine.

But it would be much more fun to just have a night where you're just like, hey man, I just want to chill, but I still want to talk to my friends. So you could pop up Discord on your, on your phone or whatever. Talk to your friends in Discord while you're picking flowers.

Jibbs

00:47:51.810 - 00:47:54.450

I'd be shocked if it doesn't Crossplay. Honestly.

Kash

00:47:54.850 - 00:47:56.330

I'd be way shocked if it wasn't.

Jibbs

00:47:56.330 - 00:48:07.330

Crossplay, mainly because it's. That's much more the of the standard these days and it's Microsoft.

And I feel like that, that would just like if you're gonna do it, you would do it right and do it all out.

Kash

00:48:07.970 - 00:49:19.790

Yeah.

Now I'm thinking, I'm back to thinking about UI and you know, the fact that World of Warcraft is a little bit more old school in that realm and into my thought that being a little bit more old school, it's kind of built for macros, it's built for those things that you can customize to how you want. And I just don't know if, if this is. If the ability to be able to do that is going to work.

Watered is going to be watered down because it's played on a controller now with a lot less Controls like I might. I play with a Naga, right. I play with a Razor Naga and it's got, you know, your right and left mouse buttons and then it has 12 additional buttons.

I use every single one of those including shift and Shift and Control or Shift and alt variations of the, you know, 1 to 12 keys. I don't have them all filled up, but I have a vast majority of them filled up and my fingers are just used to doing that and that.

Is that even going to be possible or are people going to be running with macros on a. You know, macros that do four or five things right on a controller?

Jibbs

00:49:19.790 - 00:50:09.310

You know, I heard someone say the other day they should remove macros from the.

I knew that was a hot topic and I was told that on the week when I was talking about my thoughts on skill based PvP without the add ons and that sort of thing that are currently in play. I didn't want to bring it up because I really didn't want hate mail. But I'm not opposed. I'm not opposed to taking those away. Here's the thing.

It runs into like, what is that? What does that look like from a console standpoint?

You know, like, like you're talking about, are you going to allow those for console players as well?

And if so, like, I mean, I guess you would open up a, you know, you would click like an, A button on your Xbox controller and open up a chat or whatever that is to be able to be able to input said macro. But that's. Yeah, that's an interesting point you bring up.

Kash

00:50:09.390 - 00:51:14.380

Yeah. So I don't know to. I say we finish off the sandwich here and bring some positive into this.

And I think that, I truly think that this is going to be a good thing for bringing a better player population into it. The proof is going to be in the pudding about how well they port it over and how clunky a controller feels.

I personally think they're going to nail it. But you know, you look at games like we mentioned ESO, Final Fantasy 14 did this with consoles. So there's no reason why wow, can't do it.

And those are those two examples that I just brought up are way more graphically intensive as opposed to World of Warcraft, which is. It's a little bit more comical and whimsical. The graphics are not as tight as a lot of these other games that have already ported to console.

So I think that there's no way that they can't make this thing happen and make the game run really, really well on a console.

Jibbs

00:51:14.460 - 00:52:51.900

Yeah, I look forward to seeing how it develops. Honestly, like, this is exciting. Um, I don't think that the game being streamlined is a bad thing because then at that point you're just balancing.

Yes, the initial change and initial shock is going to be massive, but I think at that point you're balancing and you're also talking about, you know, making sure that everything runs right and correct and well for the console side. And I. I definitely think they'll knock it out of the park. They have to. I think they know that.

And so, you know, I look forward to seeing what happens. That's. I look forward to seeing what happens. And so, folks, you can check this out again. This is over at wowhead.

Of course we're going to continue to follow this as, you know, things develop. And if you're not following us on our Facebook page, I. We got a message the other day. It's like, thank you.

I'll be honest, I was kind of scared when I got on Facebook because normally I only get on there to say hey to people and so. But I. I jumped through the. Was like raid boss or whatever it was to come say hi to you guys and follow you. So anyway, awesome.

Yeah, you can follow us on Facebook and we share these things as we see it come in as well. But yeah, this is going to be interesting.

So again, this coming to us from wowhead.com so, next up, we've got a few different things here, and some of this we're kind of going to. Going to kind of jump through a little bit, but World of Warcraft has released the Legion soundtrack.

Now it's kind of, you could say like a re release. And so that's available on their YouTube page. The entire soundtrack is there, so it covers well over an hour of Legion music.

Kind of bringing you back to the epic moments and emotional themes that we saw. I mean, Varian and everything that happened there, it's. It's pretty heavy. So it was cool to see that come out.

Kash

00:52:51.980 - 00:52:53.020

What happened to Varian?

Jibbs

00:52:53.260 - 00:52:59.140

I don't think I can spoil that. I don't think I can do that, bro. I don't care if it's 10 years. I don't can't do that.

Kash

00:52:59.140 - 00:53:00.540

It's 2025.

Jibbs

00:53:00.540 - 00:53:03.990

I know, I know, but I can't do it. I can't do it.

Kash

00:53:03.990 - 00:53:09.950

Well, if anybody's been in Stormwind and paid any attention, they're probably gonna realize what happened to Varian.

Jibbs

00:53:10.350 - 00:53:11.950

Yeah, especially if you're in the park.

Kash

00:53:12.590 - 00:53:16.510

Which brings up it Brings up another thing. Just super quick on this.

Jibbs

00:53:16.510 - 00:53:16.990

Yeah.

Kash

00:53:17.070 - 00:53:21.990

Legion soundtrack. Yeah, it's. It's fantastic. It's amazing. But. And we're talking about the Varian thing.

Jibbs

00:53:21.990 - 00:53:22.430

Yeah.

Kash

00:53:22.430 - 00:53:34.920

What's another thing that we do on our characters? This is nerdy, friends. This is nerdy. I don't care. This is the way that we play Warcraft. That's another thing we do with our brand new characters.

As soon as we get to Stormwind.

Jibbs

00:53:35.720 - 00:53:39.160

Well, there's a lot of things. Which part you. Why don't you take the lead with.

Kash

00:53:39.160 - 00:53:42.640

Regards to the plight of Varian?

Jibbs

00:53:42.640 - 00:53:44.600

Oh, we absolutely go to the park and we kneel.

Kash

00:53:45.320 - 00:53:45.800

Yes.

Jibbs

00:53:46.280 - 00:53:47.720

We do pay our respects.

Kash

00:53:48.200 - 00:54:11.730

We pay our respects to Varian. If you have never done this, to make sure your music is turned up, go into Stormwind. You will get the iconic Stormwind music.

But once you transition into the park where the memorial is for Varian, note the change in music. And if that isn't a powerful moment for you, then we're just idiots.

Goblins

00:54:11.970 - 00:54:13.890

Yeah, I thought you always were idiots.

Kash

00:54:16.530 - 00:54:36.300

Because it is a driving moment when you. When you know the story, you know what happened to Varian. Again, we won't spoil it. But he dies. Go to the park and go see his memorial.

You can kneel if you want. We happen to do it and we screenshot it and we send it to each other.

Jibbs

00:54:36.300 - 00:54:36.580

Yeah.

Kash

00:54:36.580 - 00:54:38.940

Because we're nerds. Because we're nerds.

Jibbs

00:54:39.660 - 00:54:40.380

But it's okay.

Kash

00:54:40.380 - 00:54:48.740

It's just. It's an emotional part of World of Warcraft lore for a lot of people. And that experience, listening to that music change is really cool.

Jibbs

00:54:48.980 - 00:54:56.100

It is really cool. But if you go there on Moon Guard too, that's where all the RP years hang out.

So you're probably going to hear and see all kinds of other story to get you roped in as well.

Kash

00:54:56.180 - 00:54:59.220

But yeah, not the lions and role players.

Jibbs

00:54:59.300 - 00:55:00.580

No, no.

Kash

00:55:00.660 - 00:55:01.020

Yes.

Jibbs

00:55:01.020 - 00:55:17.220

You know, we don't really regard that, I'll be honest. Like, that's a. That's a knock that people throw at Moon Guard.

But honestly, from like a Moon Guard players point of view, like, that's like the thing you just don't really talk about. It's like, yeah, you know, it's there. It's, ugh, it's gross. Whatever. But that's not. That's not your Moon Guard experience.

Kash

00:55:17.460 - 00:55:19.540

Don't read profiles if you're going to the lines in.

Jibbs

00:55:21.380 - 00:55:38.580

Anyway, Legion soundtrack is out. Go listen to it after you're listening to right here in amr. And you know what real Quick. After you're done listening to amr, go check out solo queue.

We've been in contact and chatting with him quite often. Good dude. Solo show. Go check him out. Solo queue. Great podcast.

Kash

00:55:38.580 - 00:55:39.060

Agreed.

Jibbs

00:55:39.900 - 00:56:27.570

Next up, we've got World of Warcraft Student Art Contest 2025.

So this coming to us from worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com so in short, Blizzard has opened submissions for the 15th annual World of Warcraft Student Art Contest, inviting college and university students to create original art or animations that fit the WoW universe.

The contest encourages students to show Blizzard something we've, quote, never seen before that still fits within the World of Warcraft universe in quote. Submissions are now open as of October 20, 2025 and will be accepted until February 1, 2026. Four grand prize winners. Here they are.

One per category will be selected. So a. A Wacom Cintic. I'm sorry, Pro 24 drawing tablet. Those are legit, by the way. Just point that out.

Kash

00:56:27.570 - 00:56:28.210

Yes, they are.

Jibbs

00:56:28.210 - 00:56:34.120

They are phenomenal. One hour mentorship with. With Blizzard artist. Oh my gosh, that'd be amazing.

Kash

00:56:34.520 - 00:56:35.800

That'd be a fast hour.

Jibbs

00:56:35.880 - 00:56:51.400

Oh yeah, it would be one year. Wow. Subscription. Heck yes. And then a Blizzard sketchbook and T shirt.

Eligibility is open to current US and Canadian college students, excluding Quebec. Full details are available on the official contest page.

Kash

00:56:51.400 - 00:57:47.180

Yeah, and if you look at the article itself, it has some examples of what students have done, which is. And it names their schools, which is super neat.

And it has examples of 3D environmental art, which by the way, is Bastion, one of your favorite places in the game. Yeah, it's absolutely gorgeous what this lady did. And 3D character art.

So if you think like concept art for different characters and stuff, that's that 3D visual effects, which is more animated and then flat out 3D animation, which is just really, really neat, some of these things. So go check it out. This is actually really neat. And this is yet another example of how Blizzard is reaching out to their. Their people.

Student Art contest. Like, come on, man, that's so neat.

Jibbs

00:57:47.260 - 00:58:12.710

It is like, this is everything like that we wished we could have had when we were coming up.

You know, like when we were taking games in and we were at college or we were, you know, in our careers early on, you know, just being able to know like the things that you love and the things you're most passionate about. Hey, like they see you and you can enter to do fun things like this like that would just be absolutely amazing.

Kash

00:58:12.710 - 00:58:17.430

So yeah, they definitely don't want to see the Stick figure that I would draw and sent to him.

Jibbs

00:58:17.510 - 00:58:21.670

I had this idea for a mount that I've been wanting to draw out. You want me tell you about this mount?

Kash

00:58:22.070 - 00:58:22.550

Yes.

Jibbs

00:58:22.550 - 00:58:50.640

I have wanted this for literally since 2018 some when we were in Eso. I want a mount that is a giant red recliner that has a claws that come out from it and I can sit on it. Like very goblin esque.

You know, he's got maybe a bunch of empty cans of you know, hard cider or whatever he's into. Maybe magazine stacked up so super loungy and gross and it like farms herbs for you. Like you can drive around, pick herbs. That's all I want.

Kash

00:58:51.120 - 00:58:55.200

That is very Guild Wars 2. They have stuff like that in there.

Jibbs

00:58:55.200 - 00:59:31.520

That's true. Wow, nice poll. They really do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, check us out. Enter the contest. Do your thing, man.

And then finally we've got Blizzard merch drops. So this coming to us from gear.blizzard.com Two new things just came out. World of Warcraft's Ashbringer 11 inch replica which looks amazing. Amazing.

This puppy is 11 inches and it is 120$, but it looks very cool. And then you've got the World of Warcraft how to draw a heroes and villains book and a poster of it as well. So both those things are out.

Kash

00:59:31.520 - 00:59:39.630

Yeah. How to draw that stuff. Super cool. There you go. That's how I get my start in being able to take part in the student art contest.

Jibbs

00:59:39.790 - 00:59:53.710

I. There you go. Honestly, that book is really, really not to like pass over the Ashbringer because it looks amazing.

I mean it's like 11 inches long, 7 inches wide, 6 inches tall. It's legit. It looks fantastic, has a great stand. It looks amazing.

Kash

00:59:53.790 - 01:00:09.310

Speaking of the replica, the Ashbringer, I know that you've seen it because we've talked about it before, but the, the statue of Arthas that's out there and it's. It's a private company that's doing this and it's a. It's a really, really awesome.

Jibbs

01:00:09.470 - 01:00:09.950

Yeah.

Kash

01:00:11.150 - 01:00:48.160

Statue of Arthas. It lights up and it's just gorgeous. But they send it to you like in parts, right?

So every week you get a different part and then you slowly build this thing and it's. It's shady markets, super shady marketing.

If you, if you follow like World of Warcraft or anything on Instagram, I'm sure you've seen this thing before. It's super badass. But I calculated it out.

If you were to like join this little ponzi scheme that they have going on to get these parts, dude, to finish the thing, it's like, well over $1,000.

Jibbs

01:00:48.160 - 01:00:49.280

Oh, heck no.

Kash

01:00:49.520 - 01:01:07.130

To finish it. And when I saw that, I was like, heck, no, dude.

Like, I would love to build it, but, yeah, they get you into, like, a subscription thing to where you're like a quarter of the way built, and you're like, well, I got to keep going now. So you keep paying them and they keep sending you the parts every week and you can build this thing. But, yeah, it's like over a thousand bucks.

I was like, that sucks, man.

Jibbs

01:01:07.130 - 01:02:27.060

Yeah, yeah. No way. No way. But. But, you know, for the things that they're offering here, like, this is.

If you're a paladin lover, like, I am, like, the ash spring looks amazing. It's got a really cool quote on the back of the box from Alexandros Mograine. It says quote. It is purely, truly an instrument of destruction.

A beautifully lethal creation that leaves nothing but charred bone in its wake. I call it the Ashbringer. It's absolutely awesome. And then. Yeah.

So that book, though, like, one thing I really, really thought was pretty amazing about that book was that there is, like, the artists from Blizzard themselves. Like, I think there's, like, different, like, forwards and different things that they've written in there as well. So, like, oh, yeah, the interviews.

They have interviews in there.

And so, like, you can read alongside kind of their thought process behind, you know, drawing those characters and really investing yourself in the world. I'm of the opinion, man, that whenever we see stuff like this, like, anything that. And I know you're the same way.

Anytime an IP can make something outside of the game that ropes you in to the game, like, it allows you to be in Azeroth when you're not in Azeroth, that's kind of what the show is. It's always a good thing. It's always a good thing. Whether it's books. You and I have done all kinds of Audible books, you know, like, it's phenomenal.

I love when they do this stuff.

S.N.A.R.K. Bumper

01:02:33.460 - 01:02:34.820

Snark online.

Jibbs

01:02:40.830 - 01:03:11.830

All right, it's the Handy Dandy segment. Segment navigator and randomizer kiosk. I like to add 5,000 on there because, you know, anything in the 90s always had 5,000 written all over it.

But anyway, today it looks like, hang on, I'm foot. Let's spit out mail bag mayhem.

All right, so this segment here on amr, we use the mighty bag bowl of awesomeness, AKA a glass bowl, and put Your questions in and whatever we grab, we answer on the show. All right, you want to go?

Kash

01:03:11.830 - 01:03:54.900

I like it. Yeah. Looks like we have a familiar name.

One of our esteemed members of Pulling Aggro irl, our guild in game, Snackfish wrote in with a question, explanation, and then a question. And this is from Snackfish. I returned after leaving. Wow. Later in Shadowlands in Dragonflight Season 2.

And one of the things that captured my imagination was the whimsy of the world events in Dragonflight, for example, is the askara cooking event. 100% remember and love this. And Snackfish continues, oh my God. Being in LFR and folks shouting yes chef to the raid leader.

Jibbs

01:03:54.900 - 01:03:56.100

Yes. Yes.

Kash

01:03:56.580 - 01:04:00.590

Emerald Dream. And following a narcoleptic treant around Y. Yes.

Jibbs

01:04:00.590 - 01:04:01.070

Yes.

Kash

01:04:01.390 - 01:04:24.190

Feeding giant toads to get the dragonkin to the Obsidian Assault. And Snackfish continues. War within lost all of that humor.

It nose dived into the catastrophic and even theater world quest, which was nothing but a muted example. So here's Snackfish's question. What would we like to see for world events in Midnight?

Jibbs

01:04:24.670 - 01:06:12.780

That's a really good question. And honestly, I hadn't thought about it that way until I read that question. And they're very. They're very spot on in a lot of ways.

War within was very serious overtones. Had very serious overtones, Various serious issues. A lot of Earthen having very serious issue. It was very serious.

And it, you know, it did kind of lose some of that whimsical vibe that we probably are more accustomed to with Dragonflight. I didn't realize how much I love Dragonflight until I was back over in the city than the last two weeks.

And I realized how much I personally could have taken in that expansion, even more. And it made me think of the future when it comes to Midnight and how I'm going to take that in. Now. That's another story.

However, the point is this, is that I don't really think I fully appreciated that expansion as much as I should have or could have. And part of that is, you know, you have these fun moments, these fun. It could be world quests like they're discussing or something else entirely.

It's important that those things do maintain themselves within World of Warcraft. So for me, what I would like to see going into Midnight is balance. Balance between, yes, this serious threat is happening. Yes, we.

We still have goblins and gnomes, and everything's always kind of crazy and. And whimsical with them in other races as well. I would love to see those two things marry together. Really well.

So it has both and it's not one side or the, or the other, but it's just, you know, it, it's World of Warcraft, but it has the serious moments and it has the crazy whimsical and that there's opportunities to enjoy both equally.

Kash

01:06:13.420 - 01:07:54.900

I agree. Warcraft at its heart is whimsy and fun. There are those serious undertones that you're talking about where the, the actual story takes place.

But there is, there's still a world that's out there. And the world can be joyfully chaotic at times. You look at things like the Darkmoon Faire, right? Yeah, Dark undertones, but super fun.

You're getting launched out of cannons. You're freaking playing Dance Dance Revolution in the middle of the, in the middle of the square. Yeah, yeah, there's, there's things like that.

And I've always been a huge fan of those extra themey little things. So I would really like to see world events bring back some of that world flavor. Just that fun world flavor.

So here's an idea that I had that I think would be super cool. Darkmoon Faire, as fun as it is, okay, it's dated, but there's still, there's still decent lore behind it.

There is still, you know, you talk about Silas Darkmoon and you know, just the different things that you can do there and they have built on it over the years.

But it would be really good to see something that all players can get into that is similar to the Darkmoon Faire to where it's a recurring event and it continues to come, but it is designed behind the Midnight expansion. Oh, this particular event that is going to live on forever started during the Midnight expansion.

And the idea I had was some type of a Silver Moon Artisans Fair.

Jibbs

01:07:55.060 - 01:07:56.260

Oh, okay.

Kash

01:07:56.500 - 01:09:11.579

So it's a thing perhaps all the time. And then once Midnight goes away, it becomes a recurring event like Darkmoon.

So my thought is things like foraging contests, right, where you're going out and you see how many, you know, how many things that you can gather during that time. There could be illusion shows, there could be cooking duels. Oh yeah, you know what I mean? But just stuff to make it fun again.

So you know, people will have that moment where you're screaming, yes, Jeff, you know, I completely get you on that one. Snackfish. That was super fun. I loved the Escara area. It was just so full of their culture. It was a hundred percent their culture.

Like you felt when you were doing the things in the Quest line to help that settlement thrive. You were. And then, you know, at the very end of it, like you, you know, you go out and you. And you.

You're trying to find like a couple of their missing younglings and all the things that you would be dealing with if you lived off the land in that environment. And the Escaris area really brought that to life.

Jibbs

01:09:11.739 - 01:09:12.299

Oh yeah.

Kash

01:09:12.299 - 01:09:19.979

So why not repeat that for what we're going to see in Midnight with the revamped zones.

Jibbs

01:09:20.219 - 01:09:20.699

Yeah.

Kash

01:09:22.619 - 01:09:43.410

Piggybacking off of a topic we talked about last week where there was an article RP event for Hollow's End that was put together by our peers. How about us? Some type of a Suramar masquerade festival where you disguise yourselves. Maybe there's dance contests.

Maybe you have to uncover like a secret Void agent or something like that.

Jibbs

01:09:43.410 - 01:09:44.410

Yeah, yeah.

Kash

01:09:44.410 - 01:09:52.090

You know, just neat things for both world quests. And as an overarching theme that will continue.

Jibbs

01:09:52.280 - 01:09:52.520

Continue.

Kash

01:09:53.480 - 01:10:10.520

You know, maybe there's a portal from Stormwind and in Orgrimmar for this when Darkmoon Faire is in town.

And now the Silver Moon Artisan Fair is in town and kind of build another thing that's very similar to Darkmoon Faire, but you put it in another spot and it occurs on another week.

Jibbs

01:10:10.680 - 01:11:16.550

Yeah, I would like to see. I like that. I love that. And I would love to see the fair brought to the capital city of Stormwind and Or Orgrimmar. So like during those things, it's.

Yeah, you. Maybe you do have to go through a portal or something. I don't know. But that.

That area where the Trading Post is, I think would be a great at place to kind of morph into something like, you know what you're talking about. With Dark Moon to bring the fare to the. So it is within the. The heavy. The. The main capital cities.

Now I'm saying this from the standpoint of playing on Moon Guard, where our cities are busy, it's busy, it's not vacant.

You know, it's weird to me now going to like an alt that I remember having on Tichondrius and going over and just being in Storm and like, where did everybody go? You know, you're looking around like, where does everybody at? But Moon Guard, it's. That's the beauty of rp.

What they don't tell you is that our server, our world is alive and that's because of the players. But I would love to see stuff like that brought to the cities to really, really make it more of like a renfair in a lot of ways, you know.

Kash

01:11:16.550 - 01:11:17.030

Yes.

Jibbs

01:11:17.590 - 01:11:53.350

Just kind of rev. Because you're right. It's not really. It's not really utilized in the way that it could be like player. From a player standpoint.

Like we really just go there to get the dailies done, but like making it an experience, you know, And I get it. It's kind of tough. Whenever you have something that's reoccurring monthly, you know, it doesn't have that same shine.

Maybe something is like the Brew Fest or something like Hollow's End, you know, once a year. So finding that balance would be difficult. However, you know, I definitely think there's. Everything you're saying.

There's definitely room for an upgrade there.

Kash

01:11:53.590 - 01:11:56.870

Yeah, Agreed. Thank you. Snackfish. That's a good question.

Jibbs

01:11:57.110 - 01:12:22.800

Yeah, thank you. That was a great question. I'll take this next one here. This one's from Morpork. I haven't listened a few episodes. You remember this person.

Drawing inspiration from WoW has been commonplace for MMOs for decades now. But as of dragonflight, it is clear that Blizzard is also drawing upon other games to improve wow.

What is one system or feature from another game, not necessarily an MMO that you'd like to see implemented in WoW. That's a big question.

Kash

01:12:23.520 - 01:12:30.660

It is. Why don't you go there first? Okay, I got a couple, but I'm probably just gonna quickly breeze over one of them.

Jibbs

01:12:30.660 - 01:12:34.100

Sure. New Worlds Fishing system brought to World of Warcraft.

Kash

01:12:34.580 - 01:12:40.740

Oh, God, that's such a good one, dude. That's such a great one.

Jibbs

01:12:40.980 - 01:12:54.020

New world owns the crown when it comes to fishing and MMOs. It. There's. Say what you want about the rest of the game, but when it comes to fishing, strictly. Holy cow. Holy cow.

Kash

01:12:54.670 - 01:13:08.510

Good. Yeah. Even a minor revamp of their. Of the fishing system, which is already. It's already iconic and fun.

Like, I do really enjoy the fishing, but if you were to make it into more of a mini game.

Jibbs

01:13:08.590 - 01:13:09.070

Oh.

Kash

01:13:09.150 - 01:13:11.870

Other than just, you know, click cast.

Jibbs

01:13:12.510 - 01:13:12.990

Yep.

Kash

01:13:12.990 - 01:13:13.950

Click reel in.

Jibbs

01:13:13.950 - 01:13:14.590

Yep.

Kash

01:13:15.390 - 01:13:18.110

Oh, buddy, that's a good one.

Jibbs

01:13:18.350 - 01:13:20.430

Thank you. What do you got? I'm excited.

Kash

01:13:20.610 - 01:13:51.960

I want to talk more about the new fishing that you're going to put into World of Warcraft. Oh, that's such a good one, dude. Okay, I have a. I have a couple.

The first one I'm going to breeze over real quick, but I think this would be a blatant ripoff. Not that other games have any damn shame in, you know, ripping things off from other games, but we've already talked about it. Before the.

Once you enter the water In Guild Wars 2, your UI changes.

Jibbs

01:13:51.960 - 01:13:52.560

Oh, yeah.

Kash

01:13:52.560 - 01:14:17.470

Now you have, you have a set of thing, you have a set of skills you can use underwater. You get a spear or like a spear gun, you get like a breathing apparatus. And it changes the way that your game plays underwater.

That would be really cool. Other than just, you know, me entering the water and trying to move moonfire stuff underwater, it would fit a little bit better in Warcraft.

That's the quick one.

Jibbs

01:14:17.470 - 01:14:17.950

Yeah.

Kash

01:14:18.110 - 01:16:41.150

The second one is. This is going to take us way back, folks.

I know I've already talked about Star Wars Galaxies in the past, but Star Wars Galaxies had a bounty system, a true bounty system. So PVPers, listen up. When you were a part of the bounty system, it was basically a board that you could take where you could hunt down other players.

So if you're gonna be out in the world in war mode, say you're a real D head and you're killing people in war mode all the time, you will reach a certain point to where you've done so much damage to people and killed so many people that your name makes the bounty board. Now other players can go in for honor conquest rewards, maybe gear rewards, and they could find your name and take the bounty to kill you.

And when you're online, when that person's online, you would get an alert and you go hunt them down again. You'd have to be in war mode. Star Wars Galaxies had this system. They actually had a class.

You could be a bounty hunter as a class and say, for instance, because Jedi were so very rare in that game. If you were a Jedi, a Padawan, and you say pulled your lightsaber out in town, instantly you're on the boards because it makes sense.

A lot of Jedi were very rare. People in town saw you pull that up. It got reported to the authorities that there's a Jedi out here somewhere.

And all of a sudden you're on the bounty boards. And there was nothing like being a Jedi Padawan.

Not very strong, but you're out there in the world in some remote spot where you're hoping other players don't go and you're grinding out your skills and you see that freaking T shaped visor come over the rise and you know that there's a bounty hunter that just found you. There was no other feeling in, in games that I've had to this date to see that you are in danger. You need to leave because you're about to die.

That would be the coolest freaking system to have some type of a true PvP bounty system in the game.

Jibbs

01:16:41.150 - 01:17:03.310

I can bring you in warm, I can bring you in cold. I love that line from the Mandalorian. That would be amazing. Now they kind of have that. But it's. It doesn't really carry weight too much.

Like if you are in an area and there is a player that's, you know, kind of going crazy and it does notify you and does mark their exact location and every place that they're at.

Kash

01:17:03.390 - 01:17:03.790

Right.

Jibbs

01:17:03.870 - 01:17:17.500

However, I would love to see more mystery into that. I would love to see more features into something like that. Making, you know, bringing more worth to the PvP experience in World of Warcraft.

That's just one way, dude. And that's a great way you could do it.

Kash

01:17:17.500 - 01:17:19.580

Yeah. And legitimize that system.

Jibbs

01:17:19.580 - 01:17:20.020

Yes.

Kash

01:17:20.020 - 01:17:23.740

Like it's an actual. You can take it as a profession.

Jibbs

01:17:24.060 - 01:17:26.460

Oh yeah. Oh gosh. Imagine that.

Kash

01:17:26.460 - 01:17:29.580

And there's a board. Oh, you can take quests.

Jibbs

01:17:29.660 - 01:17:30.340

Yes, please.

Kash

01:17:30.340 - 01:17:51.280

To track down somebody for better rewards and lore flavoring, you know. And they could ease with AI you could easily do it because the system knows what player killed this other player in what zone at what time of day.

It could easily be turned into a very quick quest with AI.

Jibbs

01:17:51.280 - 01:17:54.640

Yeah. And you can't leave war mode until you are off the bounty board.

Kash

01:17:56.960 - 01:18:06.400

That would be rad. Like. Yeah, you, you, you fafo'd on that one. You have to round. You're gonna find out stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Jibbs

01:18:08.010 - 01:18:28.250

Gosh. Well, thank you guys so much for your emails. More pork and snackfish. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much.

The funny thing is if you submit mail, Snark is probably going to bring up that mailbag mayhem more often. It's weird how that works.

Jibbs

01:18:37.140 - 01:18:42.620

It is weird how that works. And. Or we may have paid the Goblins x amount of dollars to make sure that you know.

Kash

01:18:42.620 - 01:18:50.340

Yeah. And prepared for these questions. That's true. 100% and drove. The way the show is going right.

Jibbs

01:18:50.340 - 01:18:54.220

Commercial

01:18:58.460 - 01:19:13.990

Attention all adventures heroes and and hungover mercenaries. Lace up your boots and oil those joints. It's time for the annual Goldshire 5K race. That's right. From Goldshire to Stormwind and Back again. Make way for the mountain goats. Test your endurance against boars, wolves, and that one Murloc who never learned when to quit. Hey, I only lost one boot and two toenails. But by Bronzebeard's beard, the ale at the finish line made it worth every blister. That's right. Cold Stormwind Special Reserve ale for every finisher. I thought I'd get eaten by wolves, but it was the marching Stormwind Guard that trampled me flat. Still got my medal, though. Watch your step, folks. The road to Stormwind is full of danger, adventure, and more questionable roadside vendors than you can count. Potions not totally poison.

And when you've crossed that finish line, join us for the Gold Shire Fair. Enjoy booths full of food, games, music, and contests like Pin the tail on the Kobold. Be nice to kobolds.

And for our more mature adventurers, once the sun sets, the Lion's Pride Inn hosts the infamous afterparty. But adults only, dearies. The last thing we need is another complaint about someone's wand going off in public. You've been warned.

The Lion's Pride after dark is not for the faint of heart or anyone with clothes on. So sign up today for the Goldshire 5K. Run for glory. Run for ale. Run, because that bear behind you is gaining speed. See you soon.
