Jibbs

00:00:53.340 - 00:00:58.380

Good Tuesday morning, Azeroth. Welcome. This is Azeroth Morning Radio.

Kash

00:00:58.700 - 00:01:00.300

Pleased to make your acquaintance.

Jibbs

00:01:00.540 - 00:01:07.080

We are your hosts. My name's Jibs, and I'm joined by the.

Kash

00:01:07.080 - 00:01:07.960

Oh, Here we go.

Jibbs

00:01:10.440 - 00:01:20.840

2019'S gnome. How do I word this properly? Gnome diaper model. His name is Cash.

Kash

00:01:21.160 - 00:01:23.320

Gnome diaper model.

Jibbs

00:01:23.320 - 00:01:24.840

Yeah, it's like, depends, but for gnomes.

Kash

00:01:25.240 - 00:01:41.600

Oh, my God. See you. One thing you don't know, buddy, is that I am now a protected class. You cannot harass me based on age.

And now I feel like just because I have an aging prostate, you are taking advantage of it.

Jibbs

00:01:41.680 - 00:01:46.320

I thought you were talking about your protected class because your night elves got your tree burnt down.

Goblins

00:01:46.880 - 00:01:48.880

Yeah, that thing was burnt to a crisp.

Kash

00:01:49.920 - 00:02:04.680

No, not like a protected class or race in Warcraft, dude, but just like, you know, from a human standpoint and how you should be treating me on this show. I have a union representative, thank you very much. Might be a goblin, but I have a union representative.

Jibbs

00:02:04.680 - 00:02:09.520

Well, let me know when you want me to send you your first cane. I'll make sure and next day, air it from Amazon.

Kash

00:02:10.080 - 00:02:23.040

Oh, the angst in your voice. Fine, then you know what? I'm gonna correct you on the show from. From two things that you have royally screwed up in the last week.

Jibbs

00:02:23.280 - 00:02:23.920

What I do.

Kash

00:02:23.920 - 00:02:26.720

Here we go. Okay, so first of all.

Jibbs

00:02:26.920 - 00:02:27.240

Yeah.

Kash

00:02:27.560 - 00:02:36.760

Turn on your camera so that I can see your beautiful face and understand where the cues are coming from and be able to properly run the show. Thank you very much.

Jibbs

00:02:36.760 - 00:02:37.800

There's my radio.

Kash

00:02:37.960 - 00:02:39.400

It's happening live on the show, folks.

Jibbs

00:02:39.400 - 00:02:40.040

Doing it live.

Kash

00:02:40.120 - 00:02:46.360

And here's the second one, because here's a story that's worth telling. Are you recording?

Jibbs

00:02:46.600 - 00:02:50.600

Oh, we're doing this. We're doing this. Yeah, I am recording.

Kash

00:02:50.920 - 00:02:52.920

Well, continue to tell the story.

Jibbs

00:02:53.400 - 00:02:57.920

I'm not putting myself voluntarily on the chopping block. Cause you're recording.

Kash

00:02:57.920 - 00:03:25.570

Oh, sweet. I'll do it. So last week. Last week, we got to recording the show, and we were having a great time. Like, we were.

We got into all kinds of stuff, and, like, we really felt like we were shucking and jiving and doing all the things. And about 20 minutes into the recording, I see Jibs face just go white and he goes, dude, I'm not recording.

Jibbs

00:03:25.730 - 00:03:27.010

Bit of a blunder there.

Kash

00:03:31.090 - 00:04:04.110

I want full credit in how I handled that because I was, I just smiled and said dude, no worries. Let's. Let's just take it from the top.

I wish somewhere in the archives we could have put like that 20 minutes of just rolling and then that end piece where he's like dude, I'm not even recording. But nope, it's lost to the. I gotta say this right to the annals of radio history. I almost screwed that up and made this a non family friendly show.

Jibbs

00:04:06.030 - 00:04:07.710

Oh man. About minute after dark.

Kash

00:04:07.710 - 00:04:08.350

Two seconds.

Jibbs

00:04:08.830 - 00:04:11.790

Oh buddy. How are you? Well, how's your week been in gaming?

Kash

00:04:12.350 - 00:05:45.410

Week in gaming has been good. I have. I made the conscious decision to step away from remix and get back to my. My character, my retail character.

And then the last two days of logging in I did 100 exactly the opposite of that and went right back to, to my remix character. And you know I, I do have. I got a little bit of love for my remix character which by the way is.

It is a Druid as you know, because I've mentioned it before but his name is Tree Mix and I thought that was so damn cool that I named my druid character Treemix. But I am still, you know, I've had.

I had a pretty long week and less game time this week unfortunately again due to recurring adulting which actually for reasons is going away. So I'm be right back to freaking playing as much as I possibly can.

But I'm still working on finishing Suramar and I wanted to make sure that I was exalted on all the replacement and I'm still missing the wardens so I need to finish up that rap and just finish the. The storyline in Suramar and then I'll probably be in a pretty happy place to table him for now.

And I'm gonna be coming back and forth because I still have so much bronze to spend. Yeah, I'm waiting until some more of those sets get opened up in the subsequent weeks.

So with the other expansion releases of Leisure Remix, so But that's, that's pretty much been most of it. You and I did the Day of.

Jibbs

00:05:45.410 - 00:05:46.530

The Dead oh yeah.

Kash

00:05:46.530 - 00:05:46.930

Event.

Jibbs

00:05:47.010 - 00:05:49.410

Oh yeah. Punch each other in the face for 40 minutes.

Goblins

00:05:49.810 - 00:05:52.370

For the record. That's what it's like listening to you too.

Kash

00:05:52.610 - 00:06:12.070

We punch each other in the face for 40 minutes to get all of those. To get the two achievements that we could get out of that. Which if you know, you know, it's. It was pretty funny.

There's one where you have to don a costume for Day of the Dead, which were horrible, by the way. I'm just gonna throw that out there, man.

Jibbs

00:06:12.070 - 00:06:14.710

I feel like they were from Nacho Libre. I loved every second of it.

Kash

00:06:15.270 - 00:06:16.030

Did you really?

Jibbs

00:06:16.030 - 00:06:19.430

Ramsay's at the party. Yeah, that's all I got. Every time.

Kash

00:06:21.110 - 00:06:26.790

Ramses is not dancing at the party again. If you know friends.

Jibbs

00:06:26.790 - 00:06:27.910

That's right. That's right.

Kash

00:06:29.190 - 00:07:19.890

It's from Nacho Libre. If you have not seen that movie, then you're welcome. Do it. So, yeah, the.

The two achievements were dawn the costume and, you know, find somebody and punch them in the. Or win. Basically win like a fisticuffs. You win like a fist fight with them. And then the second achievement was do it 20 times. So we're like, well.

And the worst part is there's a cooldown on the costume that you gotta wait for. That's the worst part. So once you get like Nemo, you got knocked the F out.

Once you get knocked out, you got to wait for that cooldown before you can put on the costume again. And in getting another scrum. So we did that and it was pretty funny. And then I had to log off for the night. But that was.

That was probably the biggest thing that I did in retail this week. Everything else was pretty much in remix.

Jibbs

00:07:19.890 - 00:08:34.170

Yeah, I'm the exact opposite. Everything I did this week has been in retail. I've been working on my shaman got him up and to 80.

And there was a couple days there where I was not playing casual like I normally, like, just, you know, just chilling. It was go, go, go, go hard. And that was actually a lot of fun. I've been trying to. I've kind of.

I'm kind of reached this point in the expansion where I'm looking ahead and I'm looking kind of, you know, forward to what is coming a la being class changes. That's been a major part of my thought process lately when it comes to Azeroth and, you know, kind of really figuring out where I'm going to land.

I think I found my ranged class that I'll definitely have for Midnight. And that's probably Shaman, but boy, oh boy, I tell you, I did not know. I feel like this has been a sleeper.

Or maybe it was, you know, maybe it was a big thing and maybe we just missed it. I don't think so though, that the unholy death knight is legitimately becoming a necromancer. And Midnight. And I thought, wait a minute. Okay, what?

Let's. Are you really. You know. Anyway, I Go. And I watch the video and my mouth just hit the floor and I'm like, oh, we have a problem.

Kash

00:08:35.690 - 00:08:45.370

Yeah, Houston, we have a problem. And if you. If you know about what that problem's gonna be, I'll just clue you in. He's again, not gonna know what his mate's gonna be.

Jibbs

00:08:46.330 - 00:09:06.940

Oh, it legitimately is a necromancer and you're just summoning these ghouls and you're. It just looks so much fun and I'm just been enjoying a lot of videos. I was watching one this morning. Probably one of the best explanations of.

It was Luxo Lux. Lux Dose. I think it's how you say his name. I'm sorry. But anyway, did a great job.

Kash

00:09:07.020 - 00:09:08.220

Don't you smiling.

Jibbs

00:09:08.860 - 00:09:31.310

Did a great job on the. Everything with the unholy Death Knight changes and explained it really well. Apparently he played it for years and he walked you through everything.

And it's a. It's an. You can do this ranged dk. You're gonna be able to play ranged as unholy and summon your ghouls and they go and do their thing.

Like, you can do most skills ranged. I'm just like, yeah, that's a.

Kash

00:09:31.310 - 00:10:39.010

That's 100. A necromancer. And, you know, I have to be honest with this. I am.

I'm completely fine with Blizzard making certain specs of certain archetypes, different archetypes, but, you know what I mean?

Like, I'm okay with this because, you know, typically in other games you would have like a full necromancer class and they would have different specs, which is fine.

But when you take something like a Death Knight, which is an undead that can turn others undead, as we know with the story of the Lich King and Sylvanas, right. He turned her undead. And if that's a thing in the lore of the game, then why not take a class that has the ability to do that?

Or that archetype screams that they should have this ability and turn it into a spec. Turn it into another class. So you have classes within. Within classes, which is cool. And I think they did the same thing with the Demon Hunter.

Jibbs

00:10:39.170 - 00:10:39.570

Yeah.

Kash

00:10:39.570 - 00:10:40.130

Did they not?

Jibbs

00:10:40.130 - 00:10:40.450

Yeah.

Kash

00:10:40.450 - 00:11:06.710

Now we have a. We have a Fell and a Void Demon Hunter. And I, I like what they're doing with that, and I would be like, completely happy with that.

And it already exists in the game. It exists. So if they expand upon it, if.

And they were to give other classes additional specs, it just further increases the amount of customization for the class. That you pick.

Jibbs

00:11:06.790 - 00:11:56.880

Yeah. Yeah, I like that. I like that mentality of just expanding the specs out. And you're right.

You know, we're seeing it with the Demon Hunter, and it's definitely going to be probably the flavor of the month or the possibly expansion, you know, at least the first portion of it. And I totally get it. Right. Like, it looks so cool. I'm even.

I've even thought about rolling one, but I'm like, I knew I wouldn't stick with it, so I would. I. I'm not going to do that. However, there. There are so many people that are stoked for that, and rightfully so.

And I kind of like that in a way, because, yes, it's. Yes, it's like you're adding classes, but you're not. It's like you're kind of protecting yourself from bloat in a way.

Maybe the answer is also within professions as well. Like, could they rope in a tinkerer through re. Kidding Engineer and somehow connecting it to a class? Like, what would that look like?

That'd be a first in MMO that I'm aware of.

Kash

00:11:57.120 - 00:12:16.960

Well, I mean, as for the tinkerer, they're definitely dropping hints. Did you see that thing I did, man? Again, like, we. We talk Bellular all the time. Because I watch a lot of Bellulars. I watch all of Bellular videos.

But he was talking about a tweet that came out, and there. That they were saying something, but I forget exactly what the context was. What's that?

Jibbs

00:12:16.960 - 00:12:18.480

She said it was Holly Longdale.

Kash

00:12:18.480 - 00:12:19.840

It was Holly. That's right.

Jibbs

00:12:19.920 - 00:12:38.800

She said, quote, hey there, Azeroth. It's exciting times. As we tinker our way into midnight, I'm like, that's a first off, I love Holly. I love her presentation.

Everything she does at Blizzcon's amazing. She's always super professional, always a joy to watch. When she said that, I'm like, holly, no one normally uses that verbiage. I see you, Holly.

Kash

00:12:39.680 - 00:13:39.470

I see you. And it was a really cool thing that Belialular picked up on it, like, right away.

And then as soon as it went in the video, I was like, oh, that's 100 cryptic. So. And they are. They are experts at being cryptic in. In what they do. And everything is very planned.

And she probably, that morning just said, you know what? I'm gonna throw a little something out, see if someone picks it up. Well, it turns out everybody picked up on it. So I. I don't know if that.

If that turns out to Be something. I think that's great. I am. I'm really liking this trend of experimentation that they're doing. You know, we got a new race coming. We have a new.

We just got a new spec in the Demon Hunter. They're already talking about, you know, changing up the Death Knight and. And then just.

I think there's a lot of very exciting things that are coming, and they seem to be coming in rapid succession.

Jibbs

00:13:39.550 - 00:13:54.820

Yeah. Yeah, definitely. It's a. It's a really good time to be a Warcraft fan. You know, like, this is just a really good time. I mean, there's.

There's articles firing off every day. Things are coming up out of Wowhead, out of Icy Veins. It's just. It's just good all around. It's good to be a wow fan.

Kash

00:13:55.460 - 00:13:57.580

It is. It is. It's an exciting time.

Jibbs

00:13:57.580 - 00:14:18.030

Agreed. Well, everybody, thank you so much for hanging out with us here again today. Push and play and enjoying the show with us this week.

On the show, we have a new currency coming in. Midnight. Midnight beta beginning begins. Player housing, specific crafting recipes. We take a trip with snark and a whole lot more.

But before that, let's go to a commercial break. We'll be right back.

GNN Emergency Commercial

00:14:22.190 - 00:16:03.640

This is a GNN emergency broadcast. Good evening, profiteers and panic enthusiasts.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled stock manipulation with breaking news at a moonglade where an innocent moonkin festival has turned into a full bl. Feathery fiasco. Yeah. Yeah, Grizzly. It's absolute pandemonium out here. I'm ankle deep in glitter feathers and what I think used to be a tree ant.

The mokin started dancing, then chanting, then casting starfall like it's the end of fiscal quarter. Can you confirm reports that local vendors are selling glow sticks and Moonfire funnel cakes at triple markup? Oh, yeah, big time.

There's a big guy over here selling Luna safety helmets. They're just salad bowls with chin straps. Grizzly.

Sources say Moonkin got a little too excited after a mana cookie transformed into a spinning ball of light and vaporized two tax collectors. Yeah, and now the druids can't tell which moonkin are celebrating and which ones are feral. It's like trying to hug a hurricane. Grizzit.

The Cenarian circles issued a statement. Do not feed the moonkin. I repeat, do not feed the moonkin. Yeah, bit late for that.

They've eaten through the catering, the backup catering, and a mechanical yak crizzit. They're forming a conga line around the lake. They're oh. Oh, no. They're. They're evolving. And there you have it, folks.

The Moonkin Festival, brought to you by gnn, where panic is profit.

AMR Listener Spotlight

00:16:09.790 - 00:16:29.070

Hail. This is stash. And when I'm not fishing around the many continents of Azeroth, I'm listening to Azeroth morning radio. All right, all right, all right.

Well, welcome back, everybody. We're going to jump right in here with the heroes call.

Kash

00:16:31.150 - 00:17:08.310

We started off the show on. I don't know, I think that was kind of an exciting note. Just talking about stuff. Upbeat, exciting, happy.

Oh, yeah, we're gonna, we're gonna bring it down a little bit because there's not every part of World of Warcraft that is always whimsical and fun.

There are sometimes real life stories that, that tie in, that really showcase the community coming together and what this game and what Azeroth mean to people. So I think we should probably queue up some tribute music.

Jibbs

00:17:08.790 - 00:17:10.710

Okay, I got you, I got you. Here we go.

Kash

00:17:13.110 - 00:20:42.110

Friends, I found a really cool article that really pays legacy and tribute to a player that lost their father who and they were both wow players and it's really cool. The article tells of the player who not only lost their dad that they played with, but also lost tons of mementos in a wildfire.

This comes from both AFK gaming and Reddit. I found the article on both and it looks like the OP posted in, in both spots.

But this person talks a lot about playing Vanilla Warcraft when he was just 8 years old and you know, dad had this huge boat, bulky box of World of Warcraft CDs and he used to sit there and watch dad play. And eventually this person started playing with their dad.

They gamed a ton and you know, they would sit together and create characters and all that stuff. And when, when dad passed and they lost, ended up losing a bunch of their, their, you know, their home and a bunch of their things in the wildfire.

They. This person was able to recover the, the account.

You know, obviously the account's going to stay safe but once he was able to get back line recover the account was able to find his father's character and throughout it still plays the game and through being able to find his father's character, he has kept that character and just, you know, he says like when he, when he misses dad usually around Christmas or logs in to see the character feeds his pet, gives, you know, gives dad a different hairdo, gets some new clothes and still goes back and like the way he puts it he virtually walks through those first few snowy steps they took in 2008. So I mean, this one, this one touched me, right, because this is, this shows how amazing this community is and what the game means to people.

And it's not really about, you know, not always about the big world firsts and achievements that you get in the game and all these things that you do.

But a lot of times it's about the human connection that, that people have and the ability to continue when you lose somebody that you love, continue to give tribute and continue to share their memory with others.

So this one, this got tons and tons of, of support on the posts and just lots of people reaching out and you know, giving their condolences and saying how cool this is that he keeps, he keeps his dad's character around. So I wanted to bring this up and just, you know, throw it in there.

There are a lot of stories, we're going to talk about a lot of stories in subsequent shows where stuff like this really comes home.

And I mean there's, there's documentaries out there, there are tributes that you can see, see when you are out in the world that you might not know what they are, but a lot of times it's worth a second glance, it's worth a little research as you're standing in the world and you see something, you're not sure what it means.

Do a Google search on it because sometimes it has to do with, with a player or, or somebody in game that's no longer with us and Blizzard has put that in the game as a tribute and it's, it's pretty special. What do you think, Jibs?

Jibbs

00:20:42.110 - 00:21:47.890

Oh, I love stuff like this.

You know, it's, it's so just first off, it's just gut wrenching, you know, what they had to go through, but also just the, it's very wholesome and amazing how they choose to honor the memory of their father and doing stuff like this.

Like, and I agree wholeheartedly, like that's, you know, we, we laugh and we, and it's a whimsical world and you know, these, these NPCs and you know, the storyline of the expansions are, you know, can be heavy and, but there's, at the end of the day, there's the community is, you know, your community is your mmo. Really, if you don't have that, you don't have, you don't have a game. And so it's just really beautiful to see something like this.

And you know, even though they experience those, those Difficulties, emotions and feelings, especially during the holidays, you know, how they're choosing to honor their father and keep things alive.

Like, that's, that's, that's amazing because, you know, we've always said for years that, you know, there's someone behind that keyboard that you're, you know, that you are flaring online. Yeah.

Kash

00:21:47.890 - 00:21:50.530

You know, you're yelling and screaming at in a dungeon.

Jibbs

00:21:50.610 - 00:22:30.660

Yeah. Like everyone's going through something. Right.

And so it's just like, you know, when you remember, even when with devs, when you are talking with devs and remember, like, hey, there are people too, man. You know, like there are people that we look up to and we. And some people idolize and that people are just really appreciate and.

But ultimately they're people too.

And so like, it's just, it's kind of a great reminder that to me, it's a great reminder that the importance of the person behind the keyboard, whether it be community, member, developer, new person in the game, you know, really acting with kindness first and love and. Because this stuff right here just kind of reminds you that how human the game really is.

Kash

00:22:30.820 - 00:22:50.920

Yeah. And these things can get you.

And you remember how I've always talked about, you know, our, the folks who listen to our show are going to get to know us pretty well. Well, I'm going to out myself. This one really got me. It's like, oh, man. So I'm a bucket of emotion most days, so.

Jibbs

00:22:51.480 - 00:22:54.920

Oh, my gosh. They listener phone calls. Oh, my gosh.

Kash

00:22:55.400 - 00:23:09.520

Yeah. I'm usually a bucket of emotion most days, so.

And I don't mind, you know, sharing some of that stuff if, if something really gets my goat and makes me vlempt, you're going to hear it on the show and we ain't going to edit it out because it, I mean, it is what it is. I am who I am and hi.

Jibbs

00:23:09.520 - 00:24:26.200

I'm just genuine, you know, it is what it is. You know, we're dads and we're, you know, we have families and so this definitely hits home, you know, it's. Yeah, that's the part I think that.

And I don't mean to like sidestep by any means, but I think that's the part of being in an MMO that I love the most is the community.

And I know that you and I both have like, kind of felt this way particular, particularly since we were casting together, like consistently since 2018. You know, leading up to that, we'd been all kinds of shows, but really when we started, when we really Dove in eso.

And you really saw community up close, like, really up close. And it was really just very present. And, you know, even as we move to different IPs over the years.

But that's the thing that I love the most, is I really do love the community behind it, because whether it's a story like this or it's people voluntarily making a massive spreadsheet of stuff they don't have to do, but they do for the community, or they, you know, go out of their way to write amazing stories or art, like, that's a big thing. I just saw the art on Art Station. Someone made a cult. It was like a cult here in Death Knight. Beautiful. And I'm just like, this is.

This is our community. And it's just. It's just really special, man. Like, I just really, really. I'm really thankful.

Kash

00:24:26.360 - 00:25:09.606

Agreed 100%. And this is why I know there's a lot of people out there that play solo. And. And again, it's fine. You can.

You can play this game solo if that's your shtick and that's what you really want to do. But I. I will constantly.

I will never stop trying to push solo players towards taking the time to find your community, because there is nothing like meeting a person, taking the time to meet some of these people that you play with in real life, like, if you find a group of people that you really gel with. Jibs and I have had this happen several times. We just. We did a meetup with. With a bunch of our online friends here about in 2023.

Jibbs

00:25:09.774 - 00:25:12.850

2024. We did 2024 last year.

Kash

00:25:13.010 - 00:25:47.460

Yeah, we. We rented a Vrbo.

It was a massive cabin in the Smoky Mountains, and we went and spent the weekend with, like, 14 of our closest friends, all met through gaming. You know, we. We just had the best time sitting around fire, making meals together. One of our friends, Weevil, put on a massive D and D campaign.

Was, like, way more players than he ever wanted to have to deal with. Everybody just. We had some adult beverages, we had some dinner and just played.

Jibbs

00:25:47.540 - 00:25:48.140

It was amazing.

Kash

00:25:48.140 - 00:26:12.190

And it was. It was really such an amazing experience to be able to sit down and break bread with people. And one of our rules was like, like, no devices.

Like, obviously people had their phones, but, you know, like, don't bring laptops. We're not gonna game. We're gonna. We're gonna hang out. And it was really such a special experience. And we've. We've had a couple more through.

Through podcasting that we've done over the years.

Jibbs

00:26:12.270 - 00:26:12.750

Yeah.

Kash

00:26:12.830 - 00:27:12.740

When you have. When you have the ability to do that and really, you know, have that human connection with people and meet them, it is.

It is a very amazing thing that it brings this, the massively multiplayer online role playing game, full circle. And it truly does reinforce the fact that there's people behind the keyboards. And just like Jip said, everybody's going through something.

So if you can lift each other up and support each other, you know, like, like in this case, it was. It was super important for this guy to keep this character because it reminds him of Pops and. And I just. I love it.

So, yeah, this was a no brainer for me for this week. Again, you know, all these things truly meet what we had planned for and had designed the heroes call board to be about.

And this is just an awesome story. So if you see. If you see Garen running around, I don't even know what server Garen's on, but G, A, A R O N. See a Garen out there, give him a Neil.

I love some love.

Jibbs

00:27:12.740 - 00:27:19.140

I love it, man. That's amazing. Gosh, I guess the best segment of the day. All right, well, man, let's go the news.

GNN News Headline Bumper

00:27:21.940 - 00:27:22.900

Breaking news. Brought to all of you's by the Goblin News Network.

Jibbs

00:27:29.140 - 00:28:31.190

All right, folks, well, Earth Steel. Get to know that title, get to know that name. That's a new premium currency has been data mined for many midnight.

This is coming to us from wowhead.com. i want to preface this by saying this. We may talk data mines here on the show, but we will never, ever, ever do spoilers. Why? We hate spoilers.

So we definitely don't want to know them, we don't want to talk about them, and we don't want to spoil it for you. So anytime. Just to preface all this with me saying, hey, if we talk, something has been data mined. It's. We're not talking lore.

We're not talking story new. We don't even want to know it.

All right, so data mine files from the midnight Alpha reveal a new in game currency for World of Warcraft called hearthsteel, which appears to be tied to the upcoming player housing system and may be used to buy housing items from the in game shop. While Blizzard hasn't confirmed if HearthSteel will be a premium real what? I had to. I'm trying, man. I'm trying. I'm gonna keep reading.

I'm gonna let you talk.

Kash

00:28:31.190 - 00:28:32.270

Keep talking. We'll talk.

Jibbs

00:28:32.510 - 00:29:15.430

We'll be a premium real money currency. It's tiered. Bundles resemble other Blizzard premium systems. Like Diablo Floor's Platinum or Earthstone's runestones.

While WoW tokens, Traders Tender and Battle.net balance have all existed for some time, Hurst Steel could mark the game's first dedicated premium currency if implemented that way. We're almost done here.

At the Warcraft 30th anniversary event in Boston, Blizzard confirmed that housing items will be sold through the In Game store, though no specifics have been revealed. Items are expected to mirror wow Shop Cosmetics, non can, non canonical. Thank you.

Decorative and quote, nice to have in quote rather than core gameplay content.

Kash

00:29:16.070 - 00:29:47.700

Yeah, we're gonna rewind it just a little bit. There has been, There has been this, this friendship goes deep. Real, real deep in our love of Warcraft goes deeper. Very deep.

There has been an ongoing battle between Jibs and I for the better part of a decade with whether or not it's Hearth or Hearth.

Jibbs

00:29:47.700 - 00:30:08.220

I meant to say Hearth. I'm really trying to say that, that way. I've conceded. I don't know if you know this. I have conceded. I think you're right.

But I am legitimately Ron Burgundy, by no design of my own, by no choice, whatever's in front of me, I read it. I read it and I read it wrong. Like canonical. Cannot canonical.

Goblins

00:30:08.220 - 00:30:09.500

Hey, one more time.

Kash

00:30:09.980 - 00:30:11.060

Oh, that one's okay.

Jibbs

00:30:11.060 - 00:30:11.580

That's not.

Kash

00:30:11.580 - 00:30:13.260

I'll give you that. I'm gonna give you that one.

Jibbs

00:30:13.260 - 00:30:13.820

Okay.

Kash

00:30:14.060 - 00:30:17.820

Yeah. Like, can. Is it canon or is it not canon? Well, this is non canonical.

Jibbs

00:30:18.860 - 00:30:19.260

Yeah.

Kash

00:30:19.260 - 00:30:19.660

Okay.

Jibbs

00:30:19.660 - 00:30:24.560

Yeah. So it, to me, it is Hearth. I have conceded on the show. 10 year battle.

Kash

00:30:24.640 - 00:31:17.000

Okay. I think at some point we're gonna need a poll. We're gonna need to know what the people think on this one. Because if I'm wrong, I will admit it.

I'll admit that I'm wrong. But I have always thought it was Hearth and continues to call it Hearth. It makes all kind of valves in my body, like, open and close.

When he starts, just. Wow. Okay. Yeah. So anyway, let's.

I say we just get to the discussion on this one, because first of all, I'm excited about it because I think anything new like this is. This is cool. So I guess, you know, maybe we should just throw it out there and.

Do you feel like this Hearth Steel is like the genesis, the beginnings of a full premium shop system for Wow?

Jibbs

00:31:17.290 - 00:31:42.970

I think so. I think so. And I'm not, I'm not totally opposed to it, to be honest. I, I, I kind of see this as traders tender in a way.

And I can't say I'm Shocked that this is coming to the game because when Activision owns you, you know, and like your, your Activision Blizzard, you're a whole part of that. Right. I'm not. And ultimately Microsoft. Right. Because isn't Microsoft own Activision now or.

Kash

00:31:43.690 - 00:31:44.290

I believe so.

Jibbs

00:31:44.290 - 00:31:44.690

Yeah.

Kash

00:31:44.690 - 00:31:45.130

Yeah.

Jibbs

00:31:45.130 - 00:32:03.130

Yeah. So like I can't say I'm shocked by this. In a way I'm kind of excited about it because was to get me a gift for our anniversary. Like hey baby.

Just I'm cool with like 20 Hz steel. 20 of her steel hearthsteel. So like I'm good.

Kash

00:32:03.130 - 00:32:12.180

Yeah. Could. I mean, could you imagine seeing, you know that you will.

That you'll end up seeing the little cards in the store, you know, know right next to freaking Chili's and Applebee's. It'll be right there.

Jibbs

00:32:12.260 - 00:32:49.850

And maybe it's. Maybe it's our four years was like three years.

I think it was three years and just fully engrossed and embedded in the Elder Scrolls online community from a creating standpoint, community leader standpoint. Like we were in it and that is so ingrained already there. And a lot of it does tie to housing stuff that I'll be honest, I don't really like.

This isn't like some major thing for me. It just feels kind of like, yeah, okay, cool. I hope that it's done correctly. Done well right. For the consumer. But. All right.

Kash

00:32:49.930 - 00:33:04.530

I mean this opens up. It opens up a huge can which we probably don't have time to fully go through. But we, you know, we could just bring it up.

I mean it brings in the whole whole cash shop thing, period.

Jibbs

00:33:04.610 - 00:33:06.130

Oh yeah. That's a big discussion.

Kash

00:33:06.530 - 00:33:09.890

Which is about as hot as topic as you can get in. In gaming.

Jibbs

00:33:09.970 - 00:33:10.490

Yeah.

Kash

00:33:10.490 - 00:33:51.900

Is you know, crates and the quote unquote gambling. And in game shops, that's. That's a huge issue. Almost every MMO out there has some form of it.

And regardless of what people feel about in game cash shops. Right. The thing that I'm worried. I'm worried about two things here. I'm a fan of this. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of this.

If you can earn something and then buy something for your character with this currency that you passively earn as you play the game. Totally fine with it. But two things here. The first thing I'm concerned about is I don't want to see currency bloat.

Jibbs

00:33:53.020 - 00:33:53.580

Okay.

Kash

00:33:53.750 - 00:33:59.430

Currency bloat is a. Is a real thing in games. And we, you know, we've talked about Guild Wars 2 before.

Jibbs

00:33:59.670 - 00:34:00.630

Holy cow.

Kash

00:34:00.790 - 00:34:22.990

Yeah. Don't get me wrong here, because Guild Wars 2 is a fantastic, free to play MMO. It's very, very good.

And there's years and years of content and they've done a lot of really good things. But the sheer amount of currencies, there is a go. Zillion number of currencies in that game.

Jibbs

00:34:23.070 - 00:34:23.470

Yeah.

Kash

00:34:23.470 - 00:35:01.650

And I don't want to see that happen here. There's already a lot of currencies in, in Warcraft, so I don't want to see too, too much bloat. So that's, that's issue number one.

And this is honestly, they're only talking about one additional type of currency in, in hearth steel. And if it becomes congruent across future expansions, then fine. It's only one more. It's okay. You can buy stuff with it.

It might kind of be like crowns in eso. Like that's what you can earn in game. You can purchase crowns. I don't want to see it get as deep as crowns because their stuff is expensive.

Jibbs

00:35:01.650 - 00:35:04.050

I will say that the Elder Scrolls.

Kash

00:35:04.050 - 00:35:08.530

Online, their stuff that you buy is very expensive. Yeah.

Jibbs

00:35:08.690 - 00:35:09.810

Yeah, definitely.

Kash

00:35:10.370 - 00:35:27.140

So, so there's that, there's that bloat issue.

And the other thing that I, that I kind of, I'm a little bit concerned about is I don't want to see things that you can earn in game be the same exact things that you can buy. If they're different, then I'm okay with it.

Jibbs

00:35:27.300 - 00:35:27.860

Yeah.

Kash

00:35:28.100 - 00:36:00.080

You know, if, if you can get, you know, say you're, you're, you're shooting for a really cool Stormwind themed dining room table. I would like to see you be able to earn the stone version in game. This is just an example, the stone version in game.

But if you want the wooden, handcrafted, carved version of that table, maybe that is something that's on the store.

Jibbs

00:36:00.160 - 00:36:00.640

Yeah.

Kash

00:36:00.640 - 00:36:11.080

You know, it's got to be different.

You want to reskin stuff, put it on the score on the store and make the really cool stuff available in game, the cooler stuff available to be earned in game. I'm more of a fan of that.

Jibbs

00:36:11.080 - 00:36:43.210

Yeah. Yeah. And I think that's doing right by your consumer. Like ultimately there's, there's definitely two sides of this.

Number one, they're, they're a business. Right. So they, they want to generate funds in more ways than just a subscription.

And I've heard other shows talk about it more than once over the years. You know, I'm definitely shocked that Warcraft has never went up to $20 a month. I'm with the way inflation has it been over the years. That's, that's.

I tell you what, you can say a lot. This changed this world. One thing that hasn't is World of Warcraft subscription metal price. But yeah, you know.

Kash

00:36:43.210 - 00:36:47.810

Yeah, that's very, it's very true. That is, that is. Ma'. Am. That's a whole other topic.

Jibbs

00:36:47.810 - 00:36:49.130

A whole other topic, right.

Kash

00:36:49.210 - 00:36:50.570

Yep. And another poll.

Jibbs

00:36:52.170 - 00:36:52.890

There we go.

Kash

00:36:53.450 - 00:37:02.190

We're not trying to start this up, but we're just surprised like so many other things have gone up with inflation over the years that subscription prices to games have not.

Jibbs

00:37:02.350 - 00:37:59.310

Yeah.

And so you have that one side, it's a business and then you have the other side, that's the consumer and the gamer who like you, like you said it, you know, you talked about those things that being able to. The cooler things, being able to be earned in game. That to me is where it's at, you know, like that's where I feel it's best.

The interesting part on the business side of this is that a cash shop like this, if this does develop into that thing, you know, like they're talking about where you can buy things on, on the shop, it's always like you're dancing on the knife's edge. It's like it's always this balance and you have to be very, very careful with every implementation into that shop.

You know, are you maintaining that line between where it goes like, okay, now we're venturing into all the cool stuff really is on the shop versus what the, you know, you can earn in game. There's definitely other games that are out there, MMOs especially that do that. And so it's definitely a balance.

Kash

00:37:59.470 - 00:38:21.880

Right. And, and I will say I do want to reiterate that this is.

So far all we know is that this currency is tied to the housing system and you may use it to buy housing items from the in game shop. That's all we know. We're just, we're podcasters.

We're gonna speculate, we're gonna rip, rip stuff apart and tell you what we want, what we don't want, and no one's gonna listen to us.

Jibbs

00:38:23.080 - 00:38:27.000

But hey, those five list, those five listeners are very influential.

Kash

00:38:27.000 - 00:38:27.640

They are.

Jibbs

00:38:28.440 - 00:38:34.880

We love every one of them. Dagnabbit. Anyway, so you go check us out a wowhead hearthsteel. See, I'm trying. I'm really trying.

Kash

00:38:34.880 - 00:38:36.520

Oh my dear Lord.

Jibbs

00:38:36.520 - 00:39:22.510

Heart Steel new premium currency data mine in midnight. All right, next up on the docket we got new Nope, that skip. I skipped it. Midnight Beta begins today. If you're listening, on release day.

That's November 11th. So this coming to us from Warcraft's official Facebook page and on this graphic they put out, we have phase one of Midnight Beta.

All right, and that includes dungeons delves, UI updates and more. That includes play through Midnight's first four zones. Become a void elf demon hunter. That's really cool.

Make your heronnier and open the door to housing. Then it talks about coming later to beta raids, mythic Dungeons UI updates, high level delves and Transmog cash.

Tell me what excites you the most and are you jumping into that?

Kash

00:39:23.470 - 00:41:23.640

What excites me the most? Make your heron. Do I have a plan to make a an additional character or change my night elf from a night elf to a heron ear? No, I don't have any plans.

I would, I want to play with the character creator because from what I have seen, there are some really insane stuff that you can do that it's gonna look really cool. Hair near, I think are gonna look pretty badass. In the past, Jibs and I have always been very hesitant to jump into betas or new content.

And it's funny coming from content creators because we've had several games that we've, that we've played in the past where, you know, sometimes we'll get access to do this kind of stuff. This, this looks like it's going to be available for everybody to get in and play on the test server, but we have had to protect ourselves.

And again, like this is super nerdy, but, and we don't care. We don't want anything spoiled for, for launch day. It is an event for us. It is a time off work.

It is a Make food early, make yourself a damn casserole so you don't have to cook and have a, an ice chest right by your desk. You know, like the old World of Warcraft south park thing. Oh yeah, mom poopies, bathroom. I am not getting up.

Like, I want to dive in and I want it all to be fresh and a new experience. So I might dive into the character creator a little bit and just, you know, see what the heron is all about. But for the most part.

And I'll watch videos.

I'll watch some videos as long as, like, if they say like no spoilers or they're just gonna show features, I'll watch those because there's some really good, I mean there's a bunch of excellent content creators out there. Just make really good Warcraft content So I'll watch those on, on the YouTubes. But I'm probably not going to dive into this until it is live.

Jibbs

00:41:23.880 - 00:42:25.140

Yeah, yeah, I'm the same way, to be honest with you. I mean you said it exactly, you know, like that we are very. We like to experience it the same time everyone else does.

Like we, we have never been one to. To do things like everything you just said. It's. It's exactly true. That's exactly it. So for me it's definitely going to be.

I probably would will not do this thing, the thing that truthfully entices me most out of and it's not even mentioned here, but it's the class reworks. Like that is something that I feel is going to rock the community in a big, big way.

I think you will see people switching classes, finding new mains, enjoying classes they never thought they'd enjoy. Maybe disliking something they never thought they would dislike. Like, I really think it's gonna shake up the, you know, the player base.

And I'll be honest, I'm kind of excited to see what happens. So that's where my head goes with.

Kash

00:42:25.140 - 00:42:34.700

All this is a full refresh and now we're specifically talking about the class changes. Is a full refresh healthy for World of Warcraft?

Jibbs

00:42:34.700 - 00:43:16.390

Yes, yes, it has to. I mean granted, you, you want it done. You got to be careful, right? Because you're. And again talking about Knife's Edge, right?

Like they, you know, the game got to where it's at because of what it is. You know, and those people, a lot of people have really fallen in love with their class.

How many times have we heard I've been a main XYZ for you know, over a decade. You know, like they main a class or they, they talk about how I've played it for several expansions now, right.

Like they have that connection point, point with their class and so they have to be very delicate. And I think Blizzard knows that and it's. It's just. I. I do. Yes, to answer your question, I do think it's healthy for this.

Kash

00:43:16.950 - 00:43:25.190

Let's keep going further. Do you think they should have removed the interrupts from healers except for the lucky shaman?

Jibbs

00:43:25.270 - 00:43:45.970

Well, since I'm a shaman, you know what, like if, if I'm playing that again, I don't know my main midnight. I don't. I wish I do. I wish I could tell you, but I as the only guy in the group now that has an interrupt. All eyes are on me for that interrupt.

And I'm Just like, okay, all right.

Kash

00:43:46.610 - 00:43:55.570

I think I was, I honestly wasn't trying to segue into that. It popped up in my head and we're thinking about all these class changes and stuff and I was like, damn, that's right.

I don't have an interrupt anymore.

Jibbs

00:43:55.740 - 00:43:56.940

I do. Suck it, nerd.

Kash

00:43:57.340 - 00:44:26.540

Yep. Sucking nerd. Um, but you know, I, I think, I think the class changes as part of this.

And you're right, like it's not even mentioned in this beta launch thing. But I think I'm excited for it.

I, I'm a little terrified about having to re, like relearn my rotations and you know, my prior, my healing priorities and stuff like that on, on my own character. But I think that's, that's, that's short lived. I think, I think I'll be fine. Especially if they're streamlining some stuff.

Jibbs

00:44:26.620 - 00:44:27.100

Yeah.

Kash

00:44:27.100 - 00:45:11.560

So that one doesn't really affect me too, too much. But you know, there. I really love the fact that they're, that they're, they openly test these things.

They want everybody to get through and you know, get, get a feel of it. There's plenty of people out there, they're going to hop in and you know, test this for us and then make videos. So it's exciting.

And it also says later on in the beta it's, you know, probably going to be a few weeks in, but they're gonna, you're gonna be able to test raids, the Mythic plus you more UI updates, the high level delves, which I'm, I'm excited about. I'm a Dell fan excited about that.

And then transmog, they put, I mean, are they changing something with the transmog system or they're just adding more stuff? What are they changing with the transmog system?

Jibbs

00:45:11.720 - 00:45:31.580

So there's articles out there that can word this better than I can. However, I will say you can set. How can I say this correctly?

So for a shoulder slot, you can set it to where your shoulder slot will always look that way. So like if you swap out a piece of gear, it's still that way.

Kash

00:45:31.820 - 00:45:35.580

Yeah, it's like a checkbox probably right next to your paper doll.

Jibbs

00:45:35.580 - 00:45:41.420

Yeah. I don't know what it looks like, but that's essentially the change. Because early on everyone was like, transmog is going to be free.

Kash

00:45:41.900 - 00:45:42.300

What?

Jibbs

00:45:42.620 - 00:45:46.790

And everyone just went below realistic. Right. In actuality. No, it's not.

Kash

00:45:46.790 - 00:45:47.830

Oh. I was like, what?

Jibbs

00:45:48.070 - 00:46:14.010

I mean, look, when trial style comes around, it's like Toys R Us or it's like Christmas for me, you know, like. But that. That week, it's free, dagnabbit. You best take advantage of it. But how much money do you think you have spent gold in game gold on transmog?

Like a total expense, like overhead. If you were to say Cash has spent XYZ gold the entirety of his Warcraft career, what's that look like?

Kash

00:46:14.410 - 00:46:31.370

Probably less than others. I mean, I probably change my Transmog probably twice a week. So I don't know. If you were to do the math.

And it's what, like, if you're doing like 800 gold. Let's just say it's 800 gold. Roughly, for a full transition.

Jibbs

00:46:31.610 - 00:46:32.410

Twice a week.

Kash

00:46:32.410 - 00:46:34.850

Full. A full costume change.

Jibbs

00:46:34.850 - 00:46:35.370

Correct.

Kash

00:46:35.770 - 00:46:44.160

1600 times four. 6400. 6400 times 52 weeks.

Jibbs

00:46:44.160 - 00:46:47.880

Oh, my gosh. Oh, no, no.

Kash

00:46:47.880 - 00:46:49.320

Oh, my God. I'm wasting so much gold.

Jibbs

00:46:49.320 - 00:46:50.880

No, no, no, no, no. You did it wrong.

Kash

00:46:51.200 - 00:46:52.000

That's a year.

Jibbs

00:46:52.240 - 00:46:55.600

6400 times 12. Not because that's four weeks.

Kash

00:46:55.680 - 00:46:57.680

No, no, it's because that's per week.

Jibbs

00:46:57.920 - 00:46:59.440

1600 per week.

Kash

00:46:59.520 - 00:47:00.640

Oh, math is hard.

Jibbs

00:47:00.800 - 00:47:03.520

Okay. Yeah, you're right. This is why we don't do.

Kash

00:47:04.030 - 00:47:04.270

Okay.

Jibbs

00:47:04.270 - 00:47:05.710

Oh, you're right. Oh my gosh.

Kash

00:47:06.350 - 00:47:06.750

16.

Jibbs

00:47:06.830 - 00:47:08.350

How much is that per week?

Kash

00:47:08.830 - 00:47:21.550

Yeah, right. Times 52 weeks. Yeah, okay, so that's a little better. But still, it's 83,200 gold a year, easy. So how many years have we played Warcraft?

Jibbs

00:47:21.630 - 00:47:34.800

I bet. Oh, dude, I bet you. Oh, man, I thought I was. I honestly thought I had spent probably easy a hundred thousand.

But now I'm thinking after that figure, I'm like, oh, we're. We're. We're close to a million.

Kash

00:47:36.480 - 00:47:47.920

Yeah, we're close to just times 10 years. And we've both played Warcraft for much longer than 10 years. That's 832,000 gold just on changing your boxers.

Jibbs

00:47:48.960 - 00:47:51.360

But my boxer's got to look right. Dagnabbit.

Kash

00:47:52.800 - 00:47:54.080

God, dude.

Jibbs

00:47:54.560 - 00:49:08.720

Oh, Transmog's endgame. Isn't that right, community? That's right. All right, so anyway, check this out. Jump in the beta, November 11th.

And then finally for the day, we have new profession. Crafting recipes for player housing. This coming to us again from wowhead.com. so new decor recipes have been data mined in that midnight alpha.

Letting crafters create multiple. Goodness gracious. You think I couldn't read. Letting crafters from multiple professions. There we go. Create player housing, furniture and decorations.

Now, these crafted decor items, folks, they can be placed in homes or you can sell Them on the auction house creating an entirely new profession driven market. Which is kind of neat to see that shake up a little bit. So they go through and list a lot of things.

I'm going to kind of speed through this real quick and then we can just talk about it. So for alchemy they have the apothecary's work. This is just some of the things. Okay.

The apothecary's worktable glaze Cindorai vial Nerubian alchemist retort. Then it goes on to a few more. Blacksmith.

They had a sewer gate Dalaran sun sconce enchanting dark masters mystical brazier Doragal hanging sconce engineering. This I thought was awesome home defense gadget.

Kash

00:49:09.200 - 00:49:10.800

Yep. Thank you very much.

Jibbs

00:49:11.200 - 00:49:42.410

Please. Yes, please. We need the highest quality of breaking and entering software for our homes. And Azeroth that needs to be a commercial joy.

Buzz's joyful wall of drains inscription has a wall shelf Gilnean spare saddle and rolled scarab rug for leather working tailoring has a ring, sash, a frame rug, all kinds of other things. This is just a taste like I don't know about you. Like I know you're all in on alchemy. When you see this stuff, does it get you excited?

Kash

00:49:42.570 - 00:50:28.180

It makes me want. A lot of alts have to do a lot of work on, on their professions.

But yeah, for me, you know, playing, trying to stick with a single character all the time, I kind of had to pick and choose what I wanted to do. And you know, alchemy just ends up being my, my profession. So. And I've said it before, like in my house I want to have a label.

There needs to be an alchemy lab in there. So a lot of those things are very exciting. But you know, there's, there's inscriptors out there. There's. There's leather workers like my hunter.

My hunter's a, is a skinner and a leather worker. So being able to see like a Gilnean spare saddle. Could you imagine having like a, a saddle stand right next to your stable.

Jibbs

00:50:28.580 - 00:50:29.060

Yeah.

Kash

00:50:29.060 - 00:50:33.980

Where you get to pick your favorite horse in your mount collection and, and put him in there eventually?

Jibbs

00:50:34.060 - 00:50:35.100

Oh, absolutely.

Kash

00:50:35.260 - 00:50:58.140

Like, it just everything like goes together. So they're really taking, they're taking the parts of the game that are going to make your house feel like home.

And they're putting a lot of thought and detail into these things. And I think that's a, it's a wonderful thing because again this is going to expand upon the ability for you to truly Customize your home.

Jibbs

00:50:58.390 - 00:51:48.410

Mm, yeah. Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly. And part of that customization is the fact that they're adding a brand new war boundary agent and that is lumber.

We've seen this and we've. I don't think we've ever really talked about on the show, but so to do this stuff, you're gonna have to have this new resource.

And only the crafter can provide the lumber when fulfilling crafting orders. Only the crafter. So that's gonna make people get out and about in the world.

They're going to unlock lumber gathering as they go through the intro quest line so they can jump in and just kind of get involved. And then they were talking like other unique reagents as well, like Slumbering Soul Serum Oil of Belladar's Grace, Dusk Weave and Weaver Cloth.

I mean, I love the fact that it's forcing you to get out and about. You can't just sit idle. Like you have to be invested.

Kash

00:51:48.570 - 00:52:03.780

Yeah, it's. This housing system is, is a full system. This is a system that will allow people to fully dive into and make it their in game loop housing system.

Jibbs

00:52:03.860 - 00:52:04.340

Yeah.

Kash

00:52:04.420 - 00:53:32.300

And it will, it'll allow you to do things within your housing instance, you know, obviously to, you know, decorate your home and you know, take part in the in game events for housing and such that are going to be in neighborhoods. That's one. And the other one is the fact that they've tied it into the rest of the game.

So if you want some of those really cool things, if you see something that you want from a vendor, you might have to go out and, and this is old news, but like you might have to go out and increase your rep with a certain faction in order to be able to purchase that.

Or you might be a crafter and see something, you might get a recipe for something and you're like, oh my gosh, what do I have to get in order to do this? And lumber might be a part of it. You might have to get out into the world and find other reagents.

So it is exciting that they've made housing at least at face value, they have made housing an entire different portion of, of the game that you can choose to dive into. They've been very smart about that. It's not just, yeah, decorate your home and then your home's there. That's. That's the Garrison.

You're limited in the things that you can do to decorate it. Everything's, you know, the Garrisons were on rails for sure. This is not Going to be on rails. And it is a.

It is a full system that a lot of people out there are going to make their main gameplay list.

Jibbs

00:53:32.850 - 00:54:31.960

Yeah, yeah, absolutely. There's already YouTube videos out that's like, it's. Gosh, what is.

I'll look them up live because I definitely want to give them love and credit on here. But it's like a whole HOA thing. Like a whole HOA videos. Like, they do phenomenal job on this stuff and so like, it just, it's. It's just really cool.

It's really cool just to know there's going to be content of people going out and filming this stuff, seeing other people's homes, people submitting their homes. You're already seeing like a. They did awards on this one YouTube channel. I'm gonna have to find it.

But like best staircase that they hand built this, like it's on the alpha, I think it was. And they built this beautiful.

Like, I don't even know how to describe the staircase, but it, it's like starts on each side and then meets in the middle at the top. And they, they placed every piece of this like wood beam by hand to make it look like this. I'm just like, oh, this is awesome. This is.

Kash

00:54:32.200 - 00:54:32.760

Yes.

Jibbs

00:54:32.840 - 00:54:36.600

This is ESO level, if not greater. And it's coming to Warcraft.

Kash

00:54:36.680 - 00:55:04.690

Yeah, I think that's going to be awesome. I'm. I'm interested in diving into this, into the lumber, the new reagent. Only the crafter can provide lumber when fulfilling crafting orders.

I'm interested to see the aesthetics, the player animations when you are getting the lumber, because it says lumber gathering, not lumberjacking, which to me means there's going to be nodes of stacked wood at the base of trees.

Jibbs

00:55:04.690 - 00:55:06.610

Nope. You're chopping it. Yes.

Kash

00:55:07.250 - 00:55:19.640

There we go. My gosh. Friends, thank you. That is not something that I knew and I'm very happy about that, that you actually get to lumberjack.

Jibbs

00:55:19.800 - 00:55:20.360

Yeah.

Kash

00:55:20.440 - 00:56:09.890

I don't know if you know, friends out there. There are some games out there where we have watched some of our closest friends spend hours upon hours doing nothing but lumberjacking.

Different trees, different variants of wood, you know, different. What would you call that? Like, you know, that you find more rare pieces of wood that you know.

And it's in this game, it's already in the crafting system in this game where you can get higher qualities of stuff.

I don't know if they're gonna do different trees and stuff like that, but I can absolutely foresee people Going out and like their entire loop for the day or the week is to just chop trees.

Jibbs

00:56:10.280 - 00:56:36.610

Yeah, absolutely. I'm gonna be one of those people for sure. I want to give credit real quick, their YouTube, they have four videos.

Only 2.45 subscribers with just four videos. That's amazing. Mega Art is their name and it's full on like 16 best. Wow. Housing PTR creations. 5 tips or tricks. Building a basement.

Like people are going hog wild. And she covered it. She has a wonderful job.

Kash

00:56:36.690 - 00:56:53.370

I love that people are doing like the spin on the homeowners association. It's so funny. There was somebody who, who rolled a character and the character was named Karen and the guild was Hoa and just. That is Warcraft.

Jibbs

00:56:53.370 - 00:56:54.050

I love it.

Kash

00:56:54.050 - 00:57:21.680

That is Warcraft in a nutshell right there. It's just absolutely hilarious. And people are going to make guilds.

This is yet another aspect of the game that people are going to make guilds surrounding homeowners associations and the housing system. Oh yeah. Which is just perfect because I love watching those videos. I love watching those reels, you know, on the, on the social medias. Just funny.

Jibbs

00:57:21.680 - 00:57:43.150

Yeah. Oh, she's. Yeah. Yeah. This is all around a win for everyone. A win for Blizzard, a win for the gamers of that are playing it, are playing Warcraft.

A win for creators who want to do something fun and different and just solely focus on housing stuff. This is just a huge win and I can't wait to just dive in on this, man.

Kash

00:57:43.390 - 00:58:26.920

Yeah, it's.

It's nice that these, that your existing professions are going to become key to the player housing system because it is 100% going to drive the economy. It's going to reflect, refresh a lot of things.

And you know, they're really giving crafters an economic role and it's beyond just doing the regular crafts and making gear.

You are going to create a whole new economy with the players that truly want to furnish their homes with their own designs, their own, the way that their own mind works and make their house. There's like what a boost to the economy of every server.

Jibbs

00:58:26.920 - 00:59:03.020

Yeah, agreed. I can't wait. I can't wait, folks. Tell us what maybe what you want to make with your house. What's something you're looking forward to?

Let us know on the episode page over@azerothmorningradio.com and before we move forward, I want to make mention of this because we definitely need to make mention of it and I didn't want to dive super in depth with this because we kind of beat this to a pulp last episode. And that was. Ian was on the Unshackled Fury podcast and confirmed there are no current plans.

No current plans for World of Warcraft to come to console. The focus remains on PC, with changes aimed at reducing complexity, not depth.

Kash

00:59:04.460 - 00:59:13.580

Sorry. Cough there for a second. Sorry. Not sorry. It's so coming to console.

Jibbs

00:59:13.770 - 00:59:22.250

Oh, I love it. I love Ian. You're fantastic. I love you. But it's absolutely coming to console. Anyway. All right, let's. Let's move on to Snark, baby.

S.N.A.R.K. Bumper

00:59:28.570 - 00:59:36.490

Snark online. Ew.

Jibbs

00:59:36.570 - 00:59:38.770

Does that bother you at this point? The far.

Kash

00:59:38.770 - 01:00:06.880

No, it makes me laugh. Dude, a grown ass man. And farts are funny. Seriously, are we gonna do this side story? When my kid was little, she. She got. She.

I wouldn't say she got in trouble, but she was scoffed at in class because she laughed at somebody farting. And I said, sweetheart, there's no time in your life when it's dead silent in a room and somebody farts where it's not funny.

Jibbs

01:00:06.880 - 01:00:07.360

It's true.

Kash

01:00:07.360 - 01:00:19.520

So you laugh every time. If you want to laugh, I don't care what your teacher says, you get sent to the principal's office.

I'll take you out for ice cream, because farts are always funny.

Jibbs

01:00:19.920 - 01:00:21.840

Wow. It's hilarious. Oh, I love it.

Kash

01:00:21.840 - 01:00:27.920

Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, let's see. What. What? It popped out. Goblin portals.

Jibbs

01:00:28.160 - 01:00:29.760

Ooh. Okay, okay.

Kash

01:00:29.760 - 01:01:10.190

Ooh, friends.

So what this is, is this is the segment where the goblins will literally port us to another area of the world, and we will talk about that area and basically have a conversation about goods, bads, and indifference. So engage the goblin portal. Here we go. And it appears, friends, that we are in the wetlands.

Jibbs

01:01:10.270 - 01:01:12.430

Oh, I think I landed in horse manure.

Kash

01:01:14.830 - 01:01:20.990

Well, there's been a lot of changes to the wetland, so you better grab your snorkel because we're going to be trudging through a swamp here.

Jibbs

01:01:21.070 - 01:01:24.770

Oh, yeah, it's nice here. A little wet. Think they'd invest in a dam or something?

Kash

01:01:25.640 - 01:02:30.300

You know, friends, one of the things that. This is actually a really cool zone, and it brings back a ton of memories being in the wetlands.

Let's talk a little bit about geography, because there, you know, there's people that have just played, like, pretty much nothing but, like, the latest expansions and might not have ever been to the wetlands, but there is a lot of history here. So the wetlands are in the Eastern Kingdoms. They're located. It's located between Loch Modan and the Arathi Highlands. The biome.

Foggy marshlands full of crocs, full of raptors, full of murlocs. Tons of dwarven ruins here. This is in alliance territory. There's some scattered little outposts and stuff of Horde and Dragon Maw.

But this is basically a basin. It's a. It's a huge basin that is fed by the runoff from Cosmodon. And there was a period of time in history when this was not underwater in jibs.

What caused all the water to flood the wetlands?

Jibbs

01:02:30.460 - 01:02:31.580

Big O Dragon.

Kash

01:02:31.580 - 01:02:33.980

A big O dragon in what expansion?

Jibbs

01:02:34.060 - 01:02:36.540

The Cataclysm. The great cataclysm of our time.

Kash

01:02:36.780 - 01:04:12.820

This is the great cataclysm of our time. And so now it's. It's fully swamped. The roads are flooded, the towns are flooded. There's excavation sites all over the place. As if.

As if after all these years they're finally trying to get it cleaned up. But there it's not working. I don't think it's well funded. The bridge to Dun El Ghaz is super damaged. There's ruins all over the place.

And honestly, Cataclysm, when you look at Cataclysm from an expansion point of view, you know, taking. Taking the mile high look at this zone, it 100% reshaped the zone like it is. It's underwater. The quests that were once there are gone.

Like you can't go into the town anymore. It's. It's underwater. Mob placements have changed. The. The visuals. All that's still dated, but the visuals are.

Are like ruined there pretty much because of the cataclysm. But I think it's a. It's good that we're here because it does bring up some insanely poignant topics. And the first one is for.

For any of you out there that played vanilla, right? How. And I'll just ask you, Jibs, I want the people to think about this. How do you truly feel about losing some of your favorite zones?

Because I will say this was one of my favorite zones and I'll talk about why shortly. But like, how do you feel about a complete revamp of this zone because of Cataclysm?

Jibbs

01:04:12.820 - 01:05:36.880

Like, I like development, right? Whether it's characters or maybe zones, but I know that I'll make it personal.

So if Dun Morrow was just gutted, it would bother me because that's one of my favorite zones in Warcraft, one of my top five. Easy. And I know it would bother me, however, if things developed and like it was seen through all the way.

You Know, like maybe revitalizing that sort of thing or whatever. Whatever that is. Like, I saw the other day where the church, and I forgot.

Forget the name of the church, but it's basically where Arthur, you know, the Paladin Order hall is. And like that zone that's just been.

Just decimated, you know, but it still showed that the land was healing and it showed the zone was covered in grass again. And you saw trees coming back. And it was just like seeing that development, that progression of that zone to me was just like, oh, that's.

That's really cool. It's obviously not accurate. And it's not. I don't believe, and it's not in the game, at least that I've seen.

But you know, it's just like so stuff like that. Like, I'm okay with it, but I want to see, like, it. I want to see like a con. Like a further conclusion of that thing.

Like, can we talk about Menethal Harbor? Like, it's been underwater for like 15 years.

Kash

01:05:38.720 - 01:08:26.040

Yeah. Like, it's truly turned into a ruin because of Cata. And it. It hasn't changed. So I ran through this.

I was doing something in the game and I ended up running through this area, obviously on a. On a high level player, max level player. So it wasn't. It wasn't hard to run through it.

But I specifically remembered running through there and I was just like, oh, man. Like, this hasn't come back yet to the way it was. Because when I played Vanilla, wow. Again, I've. I've almost always played a Night Elf, Galdura.

There's just been very, very few times where like, I've played Goblin, I've played Gnome, but that for the most part, and it's crazy, but for the most part, like, I am always a Night Elf. And I specifically remember the famous run that Night Elves would have to make after leaving Teldrassil.

At around level 10, maybe 12, I would leave that area and I would make the trek from Teldrassil to either Ironforge or Stormwind to continue my adventures. And that. I mean, you have to take a boat ride and then you got to be on foot.

And I specifically remember this, this death run because it was so difficult to get through the wetlands. I'm level 10 or 12, and the wetlands were filled with like 20 to 25 enemies. Level 20, 20 to 25.

And there was a specific spot on the road that I would have to get through where you would aggro either gators or the freaking raptors. Who would chase you across the damn map until they rubber banded back. But it. And at the time it was a royal pain in the butt.

But oh my gosh the memories did it that it would bring back of dying repeatedly in that area because of the the difference in mob level. And I didn't think about the beauty of that until I realized recently made that run. Oh my God.

I remember making this run on a low level character trying to make it through here. And it was. They were good memories like really good nostalgia there. So you know I get.

I guess it just brings up the thought of should this be like when you have a drastic change in the world and cataclysm changed so much about the world and it was really cool cool at the time going I played cataclysm. I played a ton of cataclysm. And going through that post cataclysm changes should it still be that way all these years, all these years later?

Jibbs

01:08:26.040 - 01:08:35.000

I want to preface this by saying yes, you can go and talk to a a Bronze dragonflight and she can take you back to the time prior. Right. Okay.

Kash

01:08:35.000 - 01:08:35.360

Right.

Jibbs

01:08:35.360 - 01:08:36.000

That's been said.

Kash

01:08:36.000 - 01:08:36.320

All right.

Jibbs

01:08:36.320 - 01:09:20.420

Cool. I would. I don't want to say no, but I don't want to say yes either.

I just know what I want to see and what I want to see is the zones alive again and to that to me. So I guess. I guess I'm telling you my answer in a roundabout way.

So to me like Minethill harbor, you know, we joked about, you know there being the dam or whatever around in the area or you know, some kind of something that. But I would love to see this stuff brought back back, you know, like they've been underwater for literally years and you know, in real time.

And I'm just. I like. I would love to see that, you know, change. I would love to see see that redone. Right.

Kash

01:09:20.420 - 01:09:40.740

I'm. I'm with you there. And I think, you know, we. This isn't a bash on Blizzard at all. I think they are slowly starting to do right.

We're going to bring it back to Northrend. So Northren is going to be redone. We're obviously going back to Qu of Loss and all that stuff coming up here soon.

And so it's going to take time I think for a lot of this stuff to happen.

Jibbs

01:09:40.740 - 01:09:41.740

Yep, absolutely.

Kash

01:09:41.740 - 01:10:14.150

Where I think the disconnect is and we talked about it a little bit on the last show about the new player experience.

Now you have that one friend who wants to get into wow, maybe never Played or is trying to come back to WOW and understand the story of the world and the history of the world. And if you have to go through the Bronze Dragonflight and Chromie to change your timelines for you, how accessible is that truly to new players?

Jibbs

01:10:14.470 - 01:10:28.480

I don't know that they would see it. They wouldn't, you know, like, I just, I don't, I don't think that.

And I think this is probably a perfect topic for some time, but talking about new player experience, you know, but like, yeah, I don't think they'd see it.

Kash

01:10:28.640 - 01:11:16.260

Yeah, man. Because I want. I want nothing more than for new players to get into World of Warcraft and not be confused.

And they are doing a new player revamp and together with time walking, they're slowly introducing, you know, quest lines and stuff so you understand what's going on with the world. And then it's incumbent upon the player.

It becomes incumbent upon the player, when you learn the history of the world through things that are available in the game, to then go back and visit those areas. And I had, you know, I was reading through, Reading through the. What's the, the, the Lore books that are the volume series.

Jibbs

01:11:16.260 - 01:11:17.420

Oh, yeah, they're phenomenal.

Kash

01:11:17.420 - 01:11:18.780

But what's the name of it?

Jibbs

01:11:18.860 - 01:11:22.580

Oh, gosh. On the spot. No, I don't remember off the top of my head, but for the people.

Kash

01:11:22.580 - 01:11:30.420

Okay, you're gonna hold for two seconds as I roll back and grab one off my shelf. Hang on. I'm back. Did you miss me?

Jibbs

01:11:30.420 - 01:11:31.980

I like your dainty board shorts.

Kash

01:11:33.900 - 01:11:41.750

It's called the Chronicles. If you have not seen these, World of Warcraft has a Chronicle series sets out and I think they're up to. What was the latest one you bought? Four.

Jibbs

01:11:41.750 - 01:11:43.430

Four. Yeah, four.

Kash

01:11:43.430 - 01:11:48.150

So they're up to four volumes. Phenomenal books to read.

Jibbs

01:11:48.150 - 01:11:48.870

Amazing.

Kash

01:11:48.950 - 01:13:08.420

My only complaint is that my eyes are aging and the. The text is really effing small. So there's that. That's an issue. I look like I'm wearing Coke bottle readers when I read.

When I read this at night because I've been. I've been chunking through it actually pretty good. So anyway, there's a point to this story.

Started reading through just volume one and I was, you know, it talks about the old gods. It talks about all of the.

The different elements and how they battled and Ragnaro, so, you know, he was the God of fire and all this stuff and just really cool stuff. But it brings up tons and tons of locations that are in the game that are visitable. You know, one is Ulduar.

And I literally like went back to Ulduar after reading that and I was like, this is the coolest thing. And it's got, like, you go through it and it's got, you know, big giant tables with maps and all this kind of stuff.

That is one of my joys in MMOs is reading something outside of the game that's lore related and then getting inside of the game game.

And I have no other reason to go to Ulduar other than I just want to go look at this location and see the detail that they've put in the game that is based around that lore that I've just read.

Jibbs

01:13:08.500 - 01:13:09.140

Oh yeah.

Kash

01:13:09.460 - 01:13:56.840

So much fun when you're able to do that. And that's what I want.

That's what, that's what my wish is for a lot of these vanilla zones that are out there that have changed over the years, but there is still so much history behind these things. And yeah, again, super nerdy. I'm a super dork for probably doing things like that.

But that is what connects me and my character to the world and, and my wish for something like this with, you know, having the wetlands as an example, is to make that old school feel really accessible, more accessible for newer players that are coming in and trying to understand the history of all these expansions and all the things that have happened in the world.

Jibbs

01:13:57.080 - 01:14:56.420

Yeah, I agree. I would definitely like post Last Titan. I would really, really love to see something for the.

You mentioned the newer player, something that really helps them with that, with that very thing of understanding these zones or a comprehensive end game, like start here kind of thing.

You know, something that speaks on these zones and the things that they're in and like, why you should start here and what happened here and because you mentioned it, you said it perfectly. The. Oh gosh, how did you say it? How do you wrap up 20 years of lore into a new player experience? You know, and it's true.

And this includes like the zones being changed. You know, you talk about Ulduar and you know, like, we're, you know, currently talking about the wetlands as well.

You know, like, there's been a lot that took place here and yeah, they definitely have a challenge for that. But yeah, I agree with you, they do.

Kash

01:14:56.420 - 01:15:52.880

And I, I am very curious to see what the new player experience is like, because could you imagine that as part of your new player experience experience, like maybe you're sitting around a campfire and there's a historian there and this you can choose to do this. And you can choose not to do this, but there is, you can take a trip through Azeroth to understand the story.

And there is, maybe it's Lore Walker Cho, maybe he's sitting there around a campfire and he starts to tell you the story and you might see a short cinematic that leads into one of those like parts of the game where you have to play through the story and they give you an action bar and you're playing a character and you're going through, but at the same time you're learning combat, you're learning the movement of the game, you're learning your menus, you're learning all that stuff while he's telling you short stories about the progression of the storyline in the world.

Jibbs

01:15:53.120 - 01:15:54.080

Oh, that'd be amazing.

Kash

01:15:54.570 - 01:15:55.450

I mean, awesome.

Jibbs

01:15:56.090 - 01:15:59.210

Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely, yeah.

Kash

01:15:59.450 - 01:16:02.090

Ideas. Too bad nobody at Blizzard is listening.

Jibbs

01:16:02.730 - 01:16:48.850

If, if they can do something like that though, where they can capture the interested person, not the person who's fully invested in Azeroth, not the person who loves orcs or humans or Horde or Alliance, but just is interested, if you can capture those people in a way, way that's really meaningful and engaging, you're probably going to hold on to people a little bit more. The retention rate or like the conversion rate as we say in marketing is going to be greater because they're invested at that point. Right.

Like it's not like an overwhelming thing. It's. It's like you're baby stepping them into getting connected.

It's like, it's like someone opening the door and be like, here, let me lead you by the hand. Welcome to Azeroth. And just taking you through it, it's.

Kash

01:16:49.090 - 01:17:14.390

Yeah, yeah. And you know, another, another idea.

And I think they are already working on this but obviously a, a mammoth sized task is to add in those Lore Walker Cho episodes that you can do. You, you can already get some unique rewards through it. But imagine if they had a library of those from Vanilla all the way through.

Jibbs

01:17:14.630 - 01:17:15.510

Oh, buddy.

Kash

01:17:15.830 - 01:18:02.770

And it could become a thing. Like it's, it's a weekly quest that you can do and this week you're going to learn about the events of the warlords of Draenor and you.

And it's short, you know, it's, you know, maybe, maybe it's a five or ten minute quest that you go through for specific rewards just like they're doing now with Lore Walker Cho and they did with the Story of Xalata.

But if they had a library of that that you could visit anytime you want if you're in some part of the world and you're like, dude, it's been 15 years since I've been here. I want to go through the the Lore Walker Cho lesson on this. And you just find it in your library.

Click on it and you're instantly teleported to learn that story again.

Jibbs

01:18:04.290 - 01:18:05.810

You put this on the docket, please.

Kash

01:18:06.770 - 01:18:09.570

I'm getting close to retirement, buddy. Do you need a consultant?

Jibbs

01:18:11.090 - 01:18:16.250

Oh, it's hilarious. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I love that. I love it. Yeah, Absolutely.

Kash

01:18:16.250 - 01:18:32.460

Yeah. So anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed our little trip through the wetlands and our discussion on how cataclysm changed the world.

I think it's probably time to cycle back through the portal.
